Count me in the less is more crowd. I feel like I need to be a computer geek to operate my vehicle. Not good

I'm going to keep that 06 pickup going as long as I can. New trucks aren't worth the hefty price tag.

The new Honda Accords look like crap.

There is no relative value in todays new car when looking at price tag. It is ridiculous what costs have become.

Cars are better than they've ever been.
More powerful, safer
Thats true if you only use those 2 metrics. Now consider longevity and reparability. Those are also important. If they're broken down or too expensive to repair does it really matter how powerful or safe they are? Ask most any competent mechanic about the state of the new "ipads on wheels" and they'll give you some curse words. Cars from the mid-2000s are still on the road doing great 20 years later. A 2022 car isn't likely to be on the road in 15 years much less 20 without significant repair bills.

In fairness, they did the same when cars went from carbs to FI and the same when they went to running everything through ECU/ECM/PCM.
While packaging makes the physical work harder on new cars diagnosis most of the time is a breeze and there is no need to play parts roulette just plug it in and see the middle coil on the rear bank is faulty.

Good point and time will tell if its just bellyaching like the past or a real issue.

A good diagnostic mechanic almost never needs a parts cannon....just the knowledge and time to diagnose. A cars diagnostic system works well as long as everything is new and in good shape. A few years gets past and corrosion, modification and mice take their toll. Then you have a mass of sensors and computers that can lose their minds.

I am so happy with my 2008 Toyota Corolla. Just a simple car that is great on gas, no touch screens, and this car can last forever if you take care of it.

They're getting too expensive
$65k for a pick-up truck?

They will have to pry my 2011 Tahoe LTZ from my cold, dead hands.

I genuinely have no idea what they were thinking. I was planning to wait for this year model, ran into a starter issue, and pulled the trigger on a replacement earlier than I wanted. When I saw the 2024s, I was glad I didn’t pour more money into fixing what I had to wait.

They used to make a lot of shite better back in the day. However, cars are not one of them. Cars today are far more reliable and safer than they were when I was growing up. Back then every old baw spent his weekends working on his car.
Downside is cars are more expensive now and gone are the days when a young man with a blue collar job could afford one.

My ‘01 Silverado long bed extended cab and my ‘02 Tahoe LS say “Hi”.
Same 5.3L Vortec in each. Same grill, Headlamps and tail lights. Power windows, mirrors and locks. A/C. Love em.

Having to click through menus to adjust the AC or volume is absurd
Bring back the buttons!

A lot of cars I have been in have knobs that do overall temperature, but you have to go through menus to do the higher end functions. Maybe they mean that, or maybe Tesla?

Some manufacturers are trying to get into the EV market, some can’t even make a dependable ICE car.
