The ICU metrics you mentioned in Red Rum's thread last night are obviously way more important, but JBE won't let up until there's and indication of the positive result numbers coming down. That's my concern.

In terms of getting tested the outliers are the quick recoverers like Payton. Now for the virus writ large they might be the majority, but the majority of people who go through it quickly and mildly dont get tested.
In general folks who get tested are going through a two week timeframe plus a week for tests. You see this reflected in Italy. The northern regions that were wracked went shelter in place on March 8. The past couple of days they’ve finally started to see consistent decreasing numbers across the board

It’s good for fear, panic, and power grabbing
If they back date all results to day of test they run the very real risk of showing a decline in cases. No one in government wants that right now.

Now, if you can get you doctor to write a need for a test you can bypass that....
ETA: we also will test healthcare workers

Perhaps a small percentage but look at the flu numbers people have been touting. Flu numbers are Flu plus pneumonia. If someone has pneumonia and passes away that goes into the flu tally without even a test for the flu.

My wife battled fever/cough for around 3-5 days after we'd both felt kinda shitty for a week or so. She lost all smell/taste for several days after her fever went away. Like completely gone, which she claims was very different from reduction in smell/taste when sick normally.
I think there is a good chance she's letting the reports about that symptom influence her, but interesting timing if not COVID I guess.

Can you just stop acting like you know everything?
My wife got tested at main with none of that. And your edit doesn't make my reply to that guy any less true before you try to take a victory lap.

The more they test the more positives there will be. Not sure why this is even news.
Yeah, these numbers will be touted but the hospitalization, critical case, and death numbers will be the key metrics.

If someone that has been tested and is in care dies of a heart attack, probably.
I highly doubt they would bother testing someone that had already died of a heart attack.

This is accurate. The CDC has instructed me to take TWO COVID tests back to back in order to get out of quarantine. The problem is those back to back tests are taking 5-7 days each because we don't have the private tests where we can find out within 45 mins whether we are positive or negative.
If I follow the CDC's guidance I'll be in quarantine for another two weeks even though my symptoms are now in the rear view mirror. Still staying in quarantine though for those who want to assume I'm leaving the house to infect you.
