Whereas, the hospitalized and vent numbers are pretty close to real time and are a current number, not a running total (I think).
Yes, I’m watching the number of hospitalizations and of course the number of deaths. Those are more current and not a function of more or less tests and more or less test results.
They aren’t testing the entire population, and it’s been determined that many have it that show no or minor symptoms.

Jesus Christ. I don’t understand how so many people fail to understand timeframes.
We will not see “good” numbers until next weekend at the earliest. Between viral incubation, onset of symptoms, and testing times, the numbers are showing who caught the virus three weeks to a month ago.
Louisiana ordered a shelter in place on March 22. New Orleans a few days before. We are weeks away from seeing the numbers reflect the effectiveness of shelter in place. Just accept that. There is literally no way the numbers don’t get worse in the next week

Lie about what? I came back from a hotbed in Colorado, and developed a dry cough, lost my sense of taste and smell, peaked at a 102.4 fever. Got over it in three days, but the cough did linger up to five days, sense of smell/taste remained absent up to ten days.

I know someone who showed symptoms last Monday, tested past Tuesday, no symptoms since Wednesday, no results and still has no clue if she had it or not.

Do you have to have a positive test on record to be counted in the hospital / vent numbers? Or are they adding people to those numbers in that situation but without a positive test (for example, results not yet back, or no reason to test).

I haven't seen any data sets that show test result date AND test date.

this is the outside range. Others can contract, display symptoms, and recover in a much tighter time frame.

You don't realize hundreds of thousands of people have this but fight it off, and never get tested. Actually they are not allowed to get tested because of having to mild of symptoms. This isn't Ebola bro.

If there is a huge backlog in testing, we should expect recoveries to also spike, and there should not be a major spike in hospitalizations.

I just had the same thing. That's a cold. My smell and taste are coming back slowly but surely. I didn't have 102 fever, but did have low grade fever. Had a dry cough for like a day.

I have some dorky friends that posted on FB that they did some statistical analysis using a bunch of complex formulas (and a graphing calculator) and they are thinking we are 15 days out from "max cases added per day) and 25 days out from "few to no new cases daily".
