JBE continuing to pump out those headline quotes
But people in the media and people like the OP will twist it

I am more concerned about hospitalizations and vents than cases

yeh, you're right. Rising numbers will have no impact on Louisiana getting back to work next month.

Why should we care about number of positive cases? It is likely this data is 5-8 days old if not older.
Unless we jump like 600 deaths 300 more people on vents and 1000 more in the hospital I won't care.
If this is the case, then Louisana reporting is useless.

Not sure what to think about this, more tests, more results, equals more postives. frick this shite open the economy back up

every single model has us continuing to rise all this week with the peak sometime late next week
this should be expected

Yeah this one isn’t on JBE. It’s on the media for printing sensational headlines.

While you are correct in a sense, these tests are least a week old. Old data is useless data. If these test were from 24hours or less then that means a whole lot more than week old data.

Results from the backlog of tests? Literally the news we’ve been waiting for.

It’s not new cases, it’s new results. BIG difference

No shite that's why he did this, but until the numbers slow down, he'll continue to use them to support his stay at home Order. Even a glorified hospital number cruncher should be able to understand this.

The more they test the more positives there will be. Not sure why this is even news.
Until we're able to flatten the curve from the social distancing and quarantining. At that point more tests should mean less and or equal to positives which would be a positive for the state. It's obviously news...

This bump in cases should help the mortality rate bigly IMO.

good. I'm sure that the backlog of tests we've been waiting on will show a decreasing % of positives tests. That would be good news. JBE said it would be jarring, not me.

agree. it's the death rate, bed availability, vent usage, etc. that are the more critical concerns.

Did you even read your own link?
This is not a big deal. Anybody who has paid attention knows there are many more cases out there than reported.

Stop with the common sense. You're supposed to be scared from the huge increase. Be sure to completely ignore percentages.

Other than trying to shock the citizens into staying home, at this point I don't really know if number of cases / tests really provides any meaningful info. Perhaps if they get to a point of posting results in almost-real time, then you can track the spread. But this info is so old and cold at this point.
Whereas, the hospitalized and vent numbers are pretty close to real time and are a current number, not a running total (I think).
