"That will be the largest that we've reported to date," the governor told WWL's Newell Normand. " and I wanted to sort of try to give some context to that."

The governor says people should not throw their hands up and despair based on these new numbers, and he reminded folks that they can still make an impact on the spread of COVID-19 in the coming weeks.
Nice work by JBE providing context at a time when many, many people aren't.

Although I loathe the crook, he’s actually been fairly careful in not taking the bait the media keeps tossing out there and not bashing The President, unlike the idiot in Michigan. The exception was him parroting Latoya blaming Trump for allowing Mardi Gras to happen.
The sensationalism on the Louisiana situation is almost solely on the media, with a few idiotic statements here and there from the genius in charge in New Orleans. We are seeing a concerted effort from the press to bring down OMB

Models to project infection rates and death rates for Louisiana or the US are largely based upon daily increase in these factors compared to other data obtained from earlier non-USA data on the CORONAVIRUS-19 and other pandemics. However, the delay in earlier unaccounted Louisiana data because of commercial testing, mandates that these data on increases in infections, etc. to be adjusted.
I am not a math or statistics expert, but through my career as a research marine biologist, I am very familiar with predictive statistical models and have utilized such in many scientific publications. A familiar quote that applies to model research is that "garbage data in and wrong assumptions concerning the application of such data to the model means that there will be garbage out".
Recent model results that are being published daily for Louisiana may not be accurate, although I am very concerned and my family complies with the state and parish mandates.
I expect the usual down votes and negative comments based on my comments (and I will not submit a picture of my still attractive nice 65 year wife LOL), but I would be willing to submit my professional resume to anyone who requests it.

Until I see otherwise I am going to assume 40% of all cases have already had an outcome.
Another 40% are home recovering with no issues and the other 20% are either in the hospital or will go to the hopital in the next 3 days.
I am not worried about this at this point at all. Louisiana's numbers are hitting a plateu and we will be counting the drop rate for deaths, people in the hospital and people on Vents each day by this time next week.

There were a few times where he sounded too harsh for the situation ... he really sounded like he was berating during his conference.
That said, I'm glad that he did a good job of explaining the spike in numbers for today .. now if only idiots would listen to that part beyond the numbers.

He's actually been calm and generally to the point. Not dramatic, but serious.
