"That will be the largest that we've reported to date," the governor told WWL's Newell Normand. " and I wanted to sort of try to give some context to that."

Edwards said they expect to get results from a backlog of tests that private labs have finally been able to clear.

The governor says people should not throw their hands up and despair based on these new numbers, and he reminded folks that they can still make an impact on the spread of COVID-19 in the coming weeks.

Would make sense that there is a big jump today.

Does Honor Choad really need to use language like that to pump up the impact of this message?

Man these people in government I swear get off on this shite.

The more they test the more positives there will be. Not sure why this is even news.

But how does that properly convey the doom needed to justify this totalitarian measures continuing by the governor?

its b/c private labs like LabCorp and Quest finally got through a national backlog of tests for all the states. Most states will be reporting spikes in cases that were tested a week ago or more.

Well since they're finally getting results from private labs which have been backlogged, it actually is the news we've been waiting for.

I'm really mostly paying attention to the hospitalization total and death toll. More cases as a result of more testing isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially when these tests are from people that have been back home quarantined feeling fine enough to not go to the hospital.
