re: JBE - Expect Jarring Numbers Today

Why aren't we backdating the numbers to the dates the tests were given then? Because there are faster tests being administered now so we are combining them with weeks old tests for "new results". This is stupid and not representative of what is really going on

Put the fear into the masses JBE! Then slip the tax notices in the mail

If we keep getting these backlog dumps without accounting for symptom onset dates then we have no idea what is peak.
Hopefully the state is using better data than they are handing out.

It would be wise to expect the numbers to NEVER improve.

I caught this virus three weeks ago and got over it in three days.
But how old are you and did you have any underlying medical issues?

Do you have to have a positive test on record to be counted in the hospital / vent numbers? Or are they adding people to those numbers in that situation but without a positive test (for example, results not yet back, or no reason to test).
They are literally putting cause of death covid19 on death certificates of people who either were not tested or have yet to get the results back.

No dude I've had a cold, and usually when that occurs my nose is dripping with snot. I went to ski in Colorado, and the day after I left they shut the slopes down because a bunch of people from Italy infected all of the mountain resorts with Covid-19.

I just had the same thing. That's a cold. My smell and taste are coming back slowly
You lose your sense of taste and smell when you get a cold? I can’t even imagine that sensation even once, much less every time I got a cold. You should see a doctor about that because it’s definitely not normal.

with the numbers we already had, it wasn't likely we could ease up, at least in SELA
True. JBE says that the new numbers will be jarring. I have no idea what he means by this. A large batch of test result returns does not have to be bad news. I'm just ready for all of this to end so that everyone can get back to work. What's going to be interesting is when the disastrous economic impact headlines start competing with the medical headlines.

Eh, I seriously doubt it. Like I said, I JUST had the same thing. Went to the doctor last week. She said if symptoms last for over a week to call her and she would order a test.
People who are getting this thing feel like death. Not just aggravating symptoms for a couple of days.

I have no idea why they don’t backdate all results to when they were taken....
Surely, internally, the state is doing that. We are....

Sean Payton went out and ran 5 miles 5 days after onset of symptoms
Many cases of people showing ZERO symptoms

6.6 million filing for unemployment this week.
3.3 million filing for unemployment last week.
fairly disastrous headlines already, but you are right. Both sides of the coin are going to get worse soon.

People have been needing context for a while now. They aren't smart enough.

Some are. Some don't feel a fricking thing.

Aren't the numbers inflated? Someone has a heart attack and test positive they are counting it as a Covid death

Taste and smell disorders send hundreds of thousands of Americans to the doctor each year. Fortunately, for most people, anosmia is a temporary nuisance caused by a severely stuffy nose from a cold. Once the cold runs its course, a person's sense of smell returns.

I'm 41 with no underlying conditions. What pisses me off is that they won't test you unless your showing a fever north of 103 or have breathing difficulties. They need to start the Hydroxychloriquine/Zpack regimens on people who are starting to show potential hospitalization may be needed.
Doctor Steven Smith on Fox News said last night his patients all over 60 years old did not need a ventilator after they took the regimen for 4+ Days. Said it checked out to the French Study done a week ago. Hospitals need to get everyone on this regimen asap im not sure what they are waiting for.
