They were both in Afghanistan at around the same time, too. Doesn't mean a lot by itself, but another data point.

This is exactly how the terrorists win.
We're still saddled with the Patriot Act, which evidently is pointless.

I don’t want to tie this thread down with off topic, but I never expected the patriot act to give us real time info of an immediate threat so much as details on things being planned that may be days or weeks ahead. And that is info I would rather not be too public so that the bad guys don’t find workarounds. Sort of how the Israelis were able to trick people into using beepers cause they didn’t know what Israel could and couldn’t do.
Would be nice to know how many times it’s been helpful/ saves lives to be able to do a cost benefit analysis of what we are giving up vs what we are getting though. And I don’t trust a government office to just say “it’s been worth it, trust me”.

How many lives did the big red lift piece of equipment save? Seems the coward ran into that which stopped the truck.

I’d say at least double. Way more people in the next few blocks then where he ended up

According to NYPD not connected. No details I’ve found as to how they have ruled that out

Police said three to four males were walking toward the venue and opened fire over 30 times in the direction of a group standing in line outside the event, striking multiple vehicles. The males ran westbound on 91st Street towards 143rd Place where they entered a light-colored sedan with out-of-state plates. Police said the shooting was "not a terrorist attack."

Sure, I don’t trust them. But if I attended the same church as someone who conducted a terrorist attack on a US city, I would definitely talk to them about anything I knew concerning that person. I would also absolutely condemn the frick out of my pastor for emailing our congregation telling us not to talk to them.
I think it’s a fine line- had they made a bunch of comments about white terror, and maybe you had gone shooting with the guy you might be well advised to go find a lawyer first instead of racing in solo.
I’ve said it a few times but it’s right to go talk to them but it’s certainly not without risk and it’s important to protect yourself in the process

The en d of the block is the start of construction - someone more recently on bourbon could chime in on conditions but I believe he was near the end of his ride regardless. Probably saved a few though.

The University of Alabama student who was killed was apparently a Muslim:
“It is with great sadness and grief, and with hearts satisfied with Allah’s decision and destiny, I announce the death of my son,” his father, Belal Badawi, posted on Facebook. “We ask Allah Almighty to shower his mercy on him, and give us patience and strength to overcome.”

Will we see military presence in NOLA now like we did for the Super Bowl in 2002?

Well, that's a name I hadn't heard in a minute.
Who'd have thunk that a NOLA terrorist attack would evoke a mafioso's name 30+ years after he died?

Was in jail back when I was a Deputy at the HOD. Lived like a king compared to other inmates. When normal folks had less than $20 in their account, this guy had tens of thousands.

... would you believe them? I wouldn't. This is where we are.

I can’t keep up with this thread anymore, but I saw a lot of “if this was a terror attack, why 3am and not midnight?”
Maybe the last bit of humanity in him wanted to avoid killing kids. Maybe he wanted to only target “sinners” so he went after a real late night Bourbon crowd.
Or it’s just that everything else failed and this was plan C.
Edit: to clarify, I mean people he deemed “sinners”, which is why I used the quotations. I’m not sympathizing/rationalizing or deeming that crowd sinners. That was a toilet thought because I’ve been wondering the same thing about the time.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Landry had a great dinner last night
Terror attack in the largest city he governs. Dude is all smiles and eating a steak dinner while the FBI is canvassing the city.
Can you imagine the reaction if the Massachusetts governor went out to eat the night after the Boston Marathon attacks?

It’s probably this. If you’ve seen the video where he turns onto Iberville it certainly looks like that was opportunistic rather than planned. It’s probably the only street he could find an opening to fit the truck thru.
