I wouldn't want that simply because it'd give him more glory and attention. Let him rot, and let's not speak of him after today. The only way we can beat him is if he feels he is forgotten and worthless.

Absolute bullshite! love that fact that we must pay for this piece of shite to spend the rest of his life in prison.
They should make it to where people can donate. Once the donations run out he can starve or choose death.

He has "mental illness", he should walk.

I bet he dies faster than If was in death row

He killed several people and damaged the lives of countless others. I would thoroughly enjoy watching him boil in acid and I'm not sick at all.

Shave a few years off a fellow lifer to whack him? I think so.

24 counts of first degree murder, 140 counts of attempted first degree murder. WOW!!!!!!!!

As far as the doctors go, I think they got it right. Ruled him mentally insane, but legally sane to sit trial.
The docs were hired guns. He was not ruled by the court as mentally insane. He was ruled competent to go to trial. The jury did not buy the insanity defense. Otherwise, he would have been remanded to some type of forensic hospital.
Some people are just fricking evil and working in forensic behavioral health, I can see the difference. True, you would assume that no one in their right mind would do such a dastardly act. However, that is because we are all hopefully sensible, reasonable people with a moral compass.
There are those out there who know right from wrong and just don't give a shite. To paraphrase the character "Alfred" on the middle Dark Knight installment, "Some men just want to see the world burn." I assure you that I run into more of those frickers than I care to. I retire in three years and that is one persona that I will not miss.
That said, I would have liked to have seen a death sentence. However, I walk many a jail in my line of work and I can tell you that solitary is its own form of hell, and probably worse than death. with time he will begin cognitively deteriorating, and keep on the downslide for a long time.

You do know pleading insanity and competent to stand trial are two different things?
Posted on 8/7/15 at 9:25 pm to Walt OReilly
I would be more than willing to spare the tax payers the 40k a year to house this frick.
After the first two weeks he wouldn't remember he ever committed a crime at all.

Should be death, obviously. I buy mental illness for Jared loughner. Holmes is just a psychopath

How in the actual frick does this POS get off with life........should have been open and shut case on the death penalty.
I mean slam dunk!

Of course the fricker is insane. How sane is it to walk into a theater and blast away innocent lives?
Death penalty should be mandated here. no ifs, and, or buts.

If he is in solitary confinement that actually is punishment. But people have a huge misconception that people rot in jail and are miserable. It becomes their lives and they get on a routine like all of us.make friends and can get basically any drug you want. Most have jobs of some sort. Thats why jail is rarely a deterent to harder criminals

I had a feeling he would get life when I heard last night there were 9 women on the jury. and 3 men..
Women just don't like to do the death penalty. My own mother is pretty much against it.
I am really not sure if I am for it or against it as a whole, but for a clear cut case like this.. I think he is ideal.

Any ways, this sucks so much. He was mental enough to know what he was doing. he planned this over a long period of time. was purchasing guns and equipment for 3 months. this man killed 12 people. 12! and injured 70.
if he was diagnosed at age 11 for trying to kill himself and referred to as skitzo.. then how was he able to purchase guns legally later in life. i believe once you have that on you, regardless of age, you should continue to not be allowed to purchase guns.
1 juror was firmly against it, 9 were for it, and 2 were on the fence. that 1 juror.. made pretty much all the difference. the last guy to get the death penalty in colorado was nearly 6 years ago? and he killed like 1 or 2 people. which is awful.. but this man murdered 12, injured 70.. had intent to do further harm.

Under King Henry VIII, anyone convicted of poisoning someone was deep fried in oil. Not sure if it worked as a deterrent but damn.

jury of our "peers" and all that BS.
With that verdict, there's not going to be many situations going forward where it's going to be "fair" for anyone to receive the death penalty.

This is mostly true, though there is absolutely no chance he will ever be in general population.

While I would prefer a Saudi type punishment, Supermax is no bullshite. He will suffer and lose his mind in a concrete box. The intoxication he got from his actions will fade quickly and he will devolve into throwing feces in desperation.
