Family reactions coming up on verdict coverage.

Why do you care one way or another?

Death Penalty in most states grants an automatic appeal process and he'd fight to stay the execution and remain in the spotlight.

Should have put him in the darkest cell they could find, torture him, and then torture him until his heart gave out.

Let's hope it's a short and painful one.

First, that it took three years and 6 million dollars to come to this verdict is a total failure of the American justice system.
Second, the death penalty, especially in obvious cases like this one, would deter crime if they were executed within three days of the crime.
Third, he PLANNED all of this. Of course he is insane. We as a society cannot do anything for the criminally insane but put them out of their misery.

Personally, I'd take the death penalty over spending the rest of my life in a Supermax solitary confinement cell.

I just started a new job back in March and one of the dude's on my team is named "James Holmes" and that shite happened so long ago, I didn't make the connection...
So when I saw this thread title, I was like.. "Wait... what?!"

Victims families should have begged the judge to let him go free.

Police should just pull a Nashville and take these dudes out on sight
FWIW....we do a lot of contract work out in Nashville. I talked to some guys down in Tennessee and apparently the cop that took the shooter out was treated to a hefty amount of drinks on the house and support at all the local Nashville bars.
I wish Chicago would take approach.

Yup, a bunch of psychotic types just high-fived and put a round in the chamber because of this sentence

I get what you're saying. But innocent people are routinely released from prison now, some off of death row. In all of those cases the jury also thought it was obvious guilt.
There are no different levels of guilt. Just guilty. If it's NOT an obvious verdict, then theoretically at least the jury is supposed to acquit.

Well, I agree, but not for the lack of the death penalty. These crazy fricks don't give a damn about living and know they're in all likelihood going to get killed by the cops. It's the media glorification of this and giving these frickers power. This guy should be nameless.

Supermax? I think I'd rather be shot up with barbiturates and go to sleep forever

You're an idiot. The death penalty is not a remote deterrent when it comes to you just being a psychopath. Really this piece of shite was much more likely to be killed that night than to survive. If a few cops are right outside and come in when people are fleeing the theater, they wouldn't think twice about killing the son of a bitch. I just think as soon as we catch fricks who do this, they shouldn't have a right to a trial and immediately be locked in a dungeon where they slowly starve to death and not waste a tax payers dime besides the gas it takes to get him to dungeon.
