Unless they have that in writing or in recorded audio, they have no way of proving that other than an employee's statement (which can easily be swayed by his employer).

They kind of proved Rouses point...

I never ever buy Beef from Rouse's..Their selection is no better than Walmart. Their prices are pretty much like other groceries. The prices go from from WTF to decent.
Rouse's needs to up their quality on their pre-made selections (Salads, dips, spreads, sandwiches). I brought stuff back because it was spoiled. Two days later the same product was in the cooler.

I was just thinking this.
Best burrito I ever had was from a food trailering a gas station parking lot in a nowhere town off I 5.

Maybe Your just a fricking retard who doesn’t look at something before he buys it.
First of all
And second, yes you should look at the product, but the product shouldn’t be spoiled on the sales floor. That’s a huge no no.
If I buy a cryovaced chicken or pork that has an expiration date a week out than I should be able to trust that. I asked the butcher to bone out a large ham which he did and rewrapped in the store packaging and when he brought it to me tried to explain the rotten smell as gas used in cryovac. When a smell from opening cryovac is bad-which it can be-it disapates in 10 seconds and says so on the package. I've only seen it and smelled it on lamb. This was a 10 minute butcher operation. It was rotten.
Yeah I've been grocery shopping for 50 years, I believe I can pick a product. I picked the rotten ones so frick Rouses.

Izzo’s to me is a complete ripoff of a chain i used to go to a lot in Houston called Freebird’s... from the moment i first stepped into an Izzo’s , it was obvious that they stole everything— the burrito sizes, options, toppings, etc, even the decor and the attitude of the employees from Freebirds.. then they added a little bit of a Louisiana twist.. so for them to be accusing Rouse’s of some sort of wrongdoing, when Izzo’s is an exact facsimile of Freebirds (which has been around a lot longer) is laughable .

Never liked Freebird's.
It's better than Moe's, but inferior to Izzo's IMO.

And significantly so.

Not sure how you can say that Freebirds is inferior to Izzo’s, they are the exact same place, but in different locations... i eat at both, both are good— but the fact that Izzo’s copied them yrs later makes me think that I wouldn’t be surprised if they are paying royalties to Freebirds, or maybe they are owned by the same people, dba different names.

I go to the rouses on drusilla all the time. Never had any problems. They have a killer Chinese buffet on Wednesday’s

I’m a big Rouses fan, but they have had issues lately. My wife pulled a Kramer and returned some fruit that was garbage last time she bought some.

Not sure what their issue is. Over expansion perhaps? Poor management? Rouses needs to make some changes in the BR area stores.

So what is Izzo’s end goal here? It sounds like the situation is more personal, with what sounds like recorded phone calls with the landlord and one of their (Izz) employees being offered a job at rouses. . As others have said, burritos aren’t rocket science... can izzos have a say in a competitor having rice beans and protein to throw in a tortilla at probably half the price? I don’t shop at either of these places.
It’s also common for the “main” store in the shopping center to have a say who’s in there... Am i wrong here? Whole Foods contract wouldn’t allow Panera in their shopping center.
Really can’t imagine Rouses affected Izzo’s business that much to justify a lawsuit. Not that Izzo’s has ever blown me out of the water but, would HOPE they could twist a better burrito than a grocery store. JMO.

Izzos is about to waste a ton of money on a losing proposition.

My family likes Izzo's, almost everything I've ever eaten there has made me queasy. I can tolerate shrimp tacos with almost nothing else on them, or shrimp quesadillas with very little.
I've tried it many times.

Yep. I'm done. Bad meat 3 times.
I've had a similar experience. And it's not much cheaper than Whole Foods/Fresh Market/Target which are all much closer to my home.
One of the few times I bought meat there was some pork chops that had a good date on it and I used it the same day I bought it and it was rancid.
When they opened in Juban I was really happy because I used to work in Mandeville and loved shopping there when I was at lunch. Over the time they have been open here I like some stuff but have been disappointed largely by the fact that they just are not that great. They do carry some things other stores don't, so that is what I buy from them but honestly there is much better value at Trader Joe's and Costco and even the local supermarkets than Rouses.

That part was already proven in court.
"The suit alleges the actions were in retaliation for a 2012 incident involving an Izzo’s restaurant manager, who was fired from his position and went to work in the burrito bar of a Rouses Supermarket in Lafayette, taking an Izzo’s proprietary recipe book with him. A suit filed by Izzo’s in 2012 against the employee alleges the Lafayette Rouses used those recipes at its burrito bar. According to court documents, Izzo’s won a court order to go into the supermarket and retrieve the recipe book."
