Food/gas/bills are the priority right now, not the newest device or a weekly datenight. Now it's a monthly datenight and looking for used stuff.
Same here. I poured through my statements and added up grocery costs month over month. Back in august I was averaging 800-900 a month for our family of six now that is 1300-1400 as of January same shopping habits

Wood in general is way to high still.
High as giraffe pussy and I need to rebuild a deck.
this is a classic case of hear someone say something, repeat it as gospel

The "good stuff" ice-cream. $6-7/pint? I need to drop the calories, cholesterol, and sugar, so they're actually doing me a favor...

A house. We own a home now but I brought some land and was going to build a new one. The interest rates are insane. So we are going to wait
Price of wood will never go back down, you should bite the bullet and buy now. I do recommend trying to buy direct from lumber processing companies if buying in bulk.
A buddy of mine built a 2 room cabin out of used pallets. He even repurposed most of the nails.

It sucks spending $100+ per meal for regular stuff

I built a 12x30 deck recently and was pleasantly surprised at treated lumber prices. Not sure exactly how they compare to pre-pandemic but a 2x4-8' is $4. Not sure how much cheaper that could get.

Why? What are your vehicle notes and house notes and such? I am cheap on material things and will still have good meals.

Didn't add on to my shed or build a patio cover because of lumber pricing.

Interest rates are not insane in relation to long term historical standards. they are insane compared to where they were 12-18 month ago.

Building a house - slowly upgrading ours instead
used to buy beef at grocery store weekly, now buying a third of a cow with some fam
I can still afford both, but refuse to play their game

Boat values went crazy and are still in process of coming back down.
Used boats during covid were priced higher than they had been new in many cases.
New boats were out of stock and priced over MSRP when available.
Outboards and parts are still in some cases unavailable so even if you buy a boat if it breaks or you need to replace something it might not be possible.
