My sister used to always rent a larger SUV to go the beach so her kids wouldn't get sand in her car.

We rented an RV to drive out west to explore national parks. Would have sucked doing that in our SUV.

I have friends that rent one for most of their road trips. It saves the mileage and wear and tear on their own vehicle.

We went to the mountains of Colorado for a wedding last fall. Driving from Denver to Colorado Springs (to be with the family prior to the wedding) then to the mountains necessitated a vehicle (4WD truck, specifically).

We've also rented a car for another wedding out of state, that time on Long Island. We spent the last night (Halloween) in the city to be closer to the airport. Needed a car for all of that, too.

Years ago, some buddies and i rented and RV for a road trip.

So fricking worth it. Room to move around, could watch movies, drink easily, everyone was in the same vehicle instead of multiple vehicles.

One of my favorite all time trips. We still will talk about that trip from time to time because it was so much fun

A rental car could have any history and you'd never know. I know when my tires were changed and when they were last rotated. I know when the oil was last changed and what type of oil is in it. I know how my vehicle drives, how it handles wet pavement, how hard I can accelerate without losing control, how hard I need to brake in certain situations, etc.. You know none of that with a rental car so I rather just put the miles on my own vehicle and be a little safer.

Rented a hybrid to drive across TX for a wedding. Did a weekend rate deal. Paid like $49 but averaged 50mpg. It was worth it.

Yes and the faster you drive a rental car the cheaper it gets

Hundreds of dollars to use a car for a few days.

If you get any kind of life out of a new car, it will be way cheaper per day than that.

thought, why don’t you save some of that money and buy you a fricking vehicle you can drive down the highway.

I can't begin to explain how much I can't stand people that make statements like this when they don't know the extent of the situation.

Mind your business.

I have plenty of people in my life that judge certain areas of my life that don't know the full story. And I don't tell them. You know why? Their method is nothing but judge and give their opinion where it isn't wanted.

Most places outside of the south have dependable transportation. Although I rent in Europe because it gives me the flexibility to see what I want.

I wouldn’t rent to drive from home to somewhere and back but our standard vacation is to fly to somewhere, rent and road trip for a week or two then return the car and fly home from somewhere else. Great way to see the country and no wasted driving days
