You don’t spare expense for a good weed eater. Echo with the easy feed head.

I fricking lost it in the yard earlier. I wanted to trim my oak tree. Burrowed my buddy’s craftsmen pole saw. Which is basically a weed eater with an attachment. It killed no less than 60 times. I threw that piece of shite on the ground.

Your gas is probably old. Dump it out and replace it with fresh gas.

Get a Stihl and use only non-ethanol gas. Only problem I have had with mine is the spark arrester screen on the muffler stopped up. Easy fix. I have had mine 10 years now. Look at the lawn care people and see what brand they are using. 90% are using Stihl.

You evidently own a piece of shite. I have an echo and it starts up every time I use it with no more than three pulls. I get what they call a repower kit that has a spark plug, air filter, and fuel filter for about $15.00 every year. I’ve had it now for four years with absolutely no problems

Got my wife a dewalt cordless and she loves it. I come back from playing golf and everything is done.

Your wife does the yardwork while you play golf? Mine has never cut a blade of grass with a lawnmower or weedeater in her life

I started using true fuel a few years ago and haven’t had a single issue with my weed eater or blower since

I’ve been doing lawn care since the summer of 1987 and have used echo, stihl, red max, shindaiwa, and probably some others I can’t remember. I will only run shindaiwa blowers and weed eaters in my business going forward. Not that the others are “bad”, but shindaiwa outperforms the other brands in every way. Lighter, more powerful, and longer lasting in my experience. Follow the fuel recommendations of previous posters for residential use and you will be satisfied. Also, speed feed head is a must. I don’t even turn off my machine when I run out of string and I am weedeating again within 1 minute. Go to a dealer and check out the 262 model...straight shaft and darn near commercial power. My 2 cents.

The battery powered EGO brand is the best tool I've ever owned.

Yes. They are a flawed design.

Battery powered weedeater is the way to go. Too much maintenance to worry about with gas mixture...especially now that they add ethanol to gas.

A weedeater is the only kind of battery powered lawn equipment I’d get. You need more power for other stuff. There’s some really nice battery powered weedeaters these days and they’re so much easier to deal with than gas powered ones and all the bullshite that comes with weedeaters.

I've got EGO's weedeater, leaf blower, and hedge trimmer. They are all awesome.

16 year old Echo that I recently put a speed feed head on. Cant kill the thing. Only had to replace the carbeurator, which I got off amazon for about $25, and the primer bulb. Will buy another when this one craps out.

I'm screwed once the first set of string is gone. Need recommendations on an idiot proof model.

Just change the head out with one that uses pre cut strings. Very simple to use.

That's not how this works. You need battery. The same batteries run my DeWalt drill, bit driver, hand cross-cut saw, string trimmer... All the batteries live on the chargers. Blower is next.

I use TruFuel in my weedeater and blower and have never had one problem in 7 years. Game changer.

99% of people use it wrong.

They don’t realize that the direction of the spin for the strings makes a huge difference in your trims

Also, they have no clue about type of string and why it matters

The Lowes Kobalt 80 volt trimmer is the way to go...has a FIVE yr. over the counter replacement warranty...the spool screwed up one time and they just gave me a new one w/ an extra battery/charger...I've adapted the trimmer head to utilize the heavier line and very quick/simple string replacement...battery lasts over an hour, so plenty for a decent sized yard +
I think the current years model is about $240
