Everything about them is designed to frustrate you from the pull chord you have to yank on for an hour to make start to the line you have to meticulously spool every 5 minutes, to all the crap it kicks up at you. Absolutely hate weed eating, and it’s most of the reason I gave up and hired a lawn service. No regrets.

Go get a nice one. I have an echo gas powered and it starts up every time.

My string is easy as hell to load and has fed perfectly.

Same. Went through probably eight before I found a good one. It is actually awesome. Had it over five years now.

Speed feed head. You'll wonder why you were too stupid not to use it sooner.

Yeah i would hate the cord too.

Poor wording, I meant I'd go battery(electric).

Buy a good one
Use ethanol free gas
Drain at end of year

No problems.

Ethanol in gas has ruined the gas powered lawn care products. Battery powered is the way to go now.

Gotcha. My driveway is 125 ft long so I have to move the cord from front to back to do it all. It sucks.

My echo has added atleast 10 years to my life. I used to get so pissed off at my Ryobi that I figured I'd stroke out by the time I was 30.

Get a Stihl. Mines a kombi system so it has multiple attachments. Primarily use weed eater and pole saw. I only use the high quality premixed ethanol free fuel sold in a can. Starts on the first crank every time for 3 years so far.

Ditto to all of this, except I have the brush cutter and cultivator attachments instead of the pole saw.

However if I wasn't already invested in the Stihl kombi system, I'd be 100% Ego. My mower and blower are already Ego, and both have been rock solid for over three years now. Ego even makes their own version of the kombi system, with most of the same attachments Stihl has.

The #1 rule of landscape equipment is that residential models are made for a price point for the residential consumer to buy, commercial equipment is made to work. Commercial equipment is actually enjoyable to use as it works properly.

Use non ethanol gas all year then in the fall start running the premix through it. Then you don’t have to worry about draining it or running it dry.

But yes as said they make speed feed systems for the popular models.

Most people that hate their lawn equipment:

-bought crappy equipment or,
-don’t care well for their equipment

and end up paying MORE in the long run. Buy the right tool for the right job and take a few minutes to care for it. For me that was a Stihl weedeater. It’s like 8 years old or something. I don’t use pump gas in it. It works EVERYTIME.
