Pro cat, pro dog.

Neighbor had a rat problem and the humane society was giving away cats at the same time. We decided to rescue one and let it live outside to keep my neighbors problem from becoming ours. She hasn’t spent a single day outside. Decided she was gonna be an indoor cat almost instantly. Sweetest cat ever. Comes to me anytime I call her. Greets houseguests like a dog with no fear. She’s just awesome.

And her and the dog are best friends and sleep snuggled up next to each other.

Also two weeks before we moved, she was camping out in the kitchen. Caught and killed rat trying to get in through a pipe opening.

Most internet tough guys think it’s cool to hate on cats. That’s why all the goobers on here talk about how much they hate cats.

I hate cats that are allowed to roam because they are the single most destructive animal out there when it comes to songbird populations. Twice already this Spring I've seen Robbin's nests wiped out by one of the shitty cats that a shitty neighbor allows to breed and roam.

Feral, and roaming, cats don't belong in any of our ecosystems. They are non-native, introduced species with no natural role in those ecosystems. A cat that is allowed to roam will kill even when it isn't hungry. I have no issue with a housecat, but if you have a cat that you allow to roam and you can't keep it on your property, that is a problem.

Cats are cool in their own way, but I greatly prefer dogs.

Interestingly, some of the cat gods say the same thing about some of the other cat's humans that they allow to roam the neighborhood.

Not all cats lol for no reason. I had a car for just over 15 years that lived in/out and I never saw her with a bird but plenty of mice. She didn't even kill the mice, just played with them.
On the other hand I had another cat that would kill everything, straight up serial killer, but he ate what he killed always. I know he ate it all because he always left the bones and guts behind my barbecue pit in the backyard.

For the most part, cats are very different than dogs in terms of personality/behavior. Because of that, people that like dogs for those characteristics tend to not like cats.

I like both, but prefer cats. More self sufficient and you know where you stand with a cat. Plus, they will do something that will crack you up at least once a day.

I prefer dogs, particularly ones I do not have to bend over to pet.

Have a cat and a dog now. I have been a dog person my entire life but now I prefer cats. They are so much easier than a dog. My cat follows me around the shop and yard when I am working. Never gets in the way. He stays a safe distance and just watches what I do. When I take a break I pet him and then go back to work. He just wants to hang out.

Cat piss stinks and everyone who owns cats smells like cat piss. You might not notice it anymore but you do.

Also cat owners who let their cats roam the streets and neighborhoods are the pit bull owners of the feline world. You suck equally. People who do not owns cats do not want your cat hanging around their house and shitting and pissing on everything. And yes they do make cat leashes not that any of you care.

So in short the cats themselves aren't terrible but most cat owners are insufferable.

Was anti cat. Until one showed up in my garage.

A neighbor took her in. I couldn’t chase her off after a couple days.

Well I’ve never heard the saying of “ a cat is man’s best friend”. My dog is my baby… but the cat just lay around and eat…

To me, cats are mercenaries to bring in when your garage develops a mouse problem.

Cats in the house are gross. litter boxes, everything usually smells.

Outside cats also suck. My truck is all scratched up from strays.

if you dealt with the amount of stray cats I do, you would hate them.

I got one that when I am sleeping he will plop down right on my chest.

I also have a German shepherd who is needy and very picky eater. She will hound me when I am home. She will follow me every where as a guide dog. Sits and waits while I cook, hoping that I am cooking something for her. She will even growl at me for attention if I look at my phone too much. Damn, I just described what it is like to have a clingy girlfriend.

Fine with both. But I’m not a pet guy. Would rather not have animals living in my house.

Has anyone pitched the idea of having a Caturday thread every Saturday where we post funny and adorable pictures and gifs of cats?
