You should check out some of the crazy shite in the UAE. They have enclaves inside of exclaves!

quote:

Within the Emirate of Fujairah you will find the Omani enclave of Madha – which includes the village of Nahwa, part of Sharjah Emirate! Also within the Emirate of Fujairah, you find another Omani enclave Dibba Al Hisn, which borders the Gulf of Oman and almost the Omani border.

Not dumb. As far as Russian seaports go, it’s probably the least likely to be frozen over in winter.

There’s a massive Polygamist Mormon Commune just on the Arizona-Utah border north of the Grand Canyon. They all live there because the Arizona State Police can’t get over there (long treks through other states on one side, big arse Canyon with no bridge on the other).

What sucks is it’s a shithole settlement below one of the most beautiful sceneries.

Spoils of war.

It was Königsberg until the Soviets captured it in WW2.

solid post, but as a dumb American, that reads exactly like the gibberish I would write down describing Arabia

If your Kentucky Bend last for more than 4 hours seek medical attention.

The river at least explains this one. The weirdest one is Point Roberts.

Doesn't Washington State have one with Canada where the kids that go to school have to cross the border twice a day?

Edit: Yes, Point Roberts as above poster mentioned.

Town of Baarle-Hertog in Belgium, inside the town of Baarle-Nassau Netherlands.

The joys of medieval land rights.

Didn't know this was a thing. Bet people that work there all live in TN cause no state income tax.

You pay income tax in the location where you work so the above would make no sense.

It would make sense for residents of the bend to work in Tennessee

The city of Alpharetta, GA, has some odd islands as a result of all the cities breaking off from it over the past 20 years. It's interesting to see this type of stuff.

What about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan? It doesn’t even touch Michigan they should give that to Wisconsin.

I'm not sure how it came into being but you have to go through Canada to get to it via dry land

It happened back when maps of the western frontier were shite and crudely drawn.

The United states and the crown were agreeing on where the border would sit and at first it was agreed on to be from the northwestern most point of Lake of the Woods (at the time thought to be a small oval-shaped lake) and run west to the Mississippi River, which was only known by those who had been there and not represented on early maps.

When they actually mapped the area later on, and realized the true shape of LOTW and how the Mississippi was NOT west of it, they drew the border up to the northwestern most point of the lake as previously agreed upon, then dropped it south to the 49th parallel.

That cut off that little sliver of land making it an enclave for the US.
