There are parts of the East that look a lot like Mogadishu.

I haven’t read the thread but I assume someone countered with Memphrica. I mean you know it’s really African. Otherwise, why would the state of Tennessee allow it to be named Memphrica?

So New Orleans is the one to blame for twerking? Glad I can finally pinpoint who to blame.

Seriously, New Orleans bounce has been twerking since the early 90s. When it became a national thing several years ago, I remember thinking "why is this all of a sudden a thing now? I remember it being in New Orleans bounce in the early 90s".

But I think this is a fair question to ask. New Orleans does have a strong African influence. Everything from the food to music, etc.

New Orleans also also has a strong Italian, Irish, etc influence, but I think you can argue NO is the most African city in the US.

Here is an article that can make a solid argument.

I’d argue that St Cloud, MN holds that crown.

We make fun of the Chocolate City comment, but he was the best mayor they’ve had in decades.

What does this stuff have to do with Africa?..

If he said most ghetto city, I'd agree...

Now see, that comment lends credence to NOLA being the most African city in America. The best mayor they have had in decades is currently in federal prison.

New Orleans is 11th. Black percentage from 2010 Census:

Nola had some gentrification going on this past decade but some of that may be coming undone thanks to Latoya.

A french New Orleanian who thinks the culture is African, even cites a roux as an example

Yep. This idiot claims NOLA is the only major american city that has a "unique" culture. Then doesn't realize most of the cultural influences are French, Caribbean, and the Acadian people's with a dash of the people of the African slave trade. Mix all together and you come up with the culture of NOLA. But to claim it is all of African origins couldn't be more wrong.
