2) i wonder how much of this has to do with trashy people (who would definitely get divorced) not bothering to get married anymore

Going by Mr Perfect, I'd say you're probably right.

Social media is ruining young women though.

Social media is ruining the other half of the species, too. Don't be myopic.

Married couples consistently have higher individual incomes vs single.
this may be effect and not cause

yup but at lower rates than wealthy boomers. please think critically my guy

Millennials have married at older ages than boomers; this makes marriage rates decline as well.

Temple vs. USF kicks off in about 30 miunutes. You don't really give a frick about either team so you go online and place a bet to make things a little more interesting while you watch. You see the that the game is a pick em and decide to do a little research. Temple is at home and are top 10 in defensive efficiency. USF started out the year hot, but have lost their last 2, so you say frick it that's some good value and put some pizza money on the Owls.

When I opened this thread, I expected something about marriage, not an in depth analysis of a hypothetical Temple/USF matchup.

Having over a million in assets and just a bit past 40 is rather nice.

is it really good when they’re still having (bastard) kids?

If they’re married, there’s probably a higher chance of them sticking together for the kids.

Dean Martin once said that when he won his parlay, he'd be set for life; he'd take all that money, and gamble it on his wife.

You have to be very selective and do your homework. Look at their mom and day and how they were raised, look at her character and her actual expectations rather than what she verbalizes and tries to sell you with Does she have a good work ethic, does she spend money frivolously, is she trustworthy in her relationships with others now, Is she an only child, does she expect you to cater to her every whim or is she more pragmatic and self starting? All of this shite will tell you a lot about what you’re going to get, and I’d be mindful of this, the apple never falls very far from the tree. Yeah, there’s always the exception to the rule, but it’s almost always the rule that’s at play, and so go with the rule. You are NOT going to change anyone, so if you can’t put up with it, You sure as hell don’t marry it.

I think today is tougher than in days past simple because of the unrealistic expectations women have with marriage, but also that people don’t hold to the same values as people did in the past, and so if things get tough, they won’t stick it out because it’s not in them to grit it out, and there’s going to come a time for that, you can believe it.
