Let's imagine that its a Thursday night in the middle of October and you get home from a long days work, sit down on your couch, crack open a beer, and flip on ESPN. Temple vs. USF kicks off in about 30 miunutes. You don't really give a frick about either team so you go online and place a bet to make things a little more interesting while you watch. You see the that the game is a pick em and decide to do a little research. Temple is at home and are top 10 in defensive efficiency. USF started out the year hot, but have lost their last 2, so you say frick it that's some good value and put some pizza money on the Owls.

3 hours go by and you come to find out that former head coach Charlie Strong had his boys up for this one and they upset the Owls on the road. You lose, but it was a little pizza money so frick it.

Now, imagine it was thousands upon thousands of dollars plus emotional scarring because you find out Temple is a total fraud and wasn't who she said she was.

Is marriage really worth that risk? Divorce rate is 50%. It's just like betting on Thursday night Temple-USF but with half your money.

If I told you to parachute out of a plane, but that your chute only had a 50% chance of opening...would you take the risk?

There's your answer.

It’s only a 50-50 gamble if you’re bad at picking a woman.

It’s not much of a gamble if you’re not a fool.

Don’t gamble - only marry a sure thing. If you can’t find one then don’t marry.

If you want to procreate and raise your offspring right, then yes, marriage is worth the gamble. But judging by your username you're a pedophile. So, best to stay single.

Monetarily, you can reduce/eliminate the risk by choosing someone with money so I don't think that should be the main concern

If this is the type of half-arse effort you give, then no, it's not for you. But if you enjoy living with your best friend and aren't an inconsiderate a-hole, then yes, it's a fine institution.

Not a gamble if you do your homework and choose the right person.

all depends on the team you are betting on.

If you win. If you are gambling on marriage with the lax nature as betting on AAC Thursday night football, it shows you have a problem with judgement though.
