We truly live in a post-fact paradigm. It’s astounding.

I mean i'm happily married 8 years in.

Don't be the dumbass that marries a F buddy. An actual relationship is more than just sex.

Married couples consistently have higher individual incomes vs single. My thoughts only...marriage takes commitment, there’s great highs and shitty lows but you’re committing to the long haul. I think personality plays a factor, if you’re able to commit like that in your relationship you likely have a strong likelihood to commit or work hard in other areas of your life as well; thus leading to higher income.

If marriage didn’t exist would these personalities still earn higher? I think so but have no clue.

Meh. My kids will have a stable environment to grow up in and our dual incomes will allow us to retire about 20 years earlier. Worth it.

How about you link to some of your claims in this thread. Preferably from somewhere other than r/redpill

does that 50% take in account that people that get divorced usually get divorced multiple times?

Trading in one set of problems for another. Unless there is physical or substance abuse (and even extreme emotional), if a person doesn't make corrections to themselves, they're a great likelihood that whatever problems existed in the first relationship will carry over to the next relationship. It may not be evident at first during the "romance - can't do wrong stages" but it will surface over time.

This is one strange analogy, but it describes me to a T.

You sound young and just haven't met her yet. When you do you won't second guess yourself. You also probably won't make the mistake of asking a question like this on the OT again either.

True. I am young. Social media is ruining young women though.

For the winners, absolutely.

For the losers, absolutely not.

For example, I have a very different view of marriage than someone like, say, Fr33Mantor

Absolutely worth it if you want to be married. If that’s not the lifestyle you want, then it’s not for you. The family of your spouse is also super important and shouldn’t be ignored bc that can cause issues within your own marriage as well. I struck gold with my in laws as they don’t meddle and are a huge help with the kids when we need them. They also let us go hang at the pool whenever we want and drink and hang out regularly. Father in law is a retired US Marshall and trained SWAT teams in his earlier days and has some of the best stories I’ve ever heard. Marriage isn’t always easy, but it’s very rewarding and gratifying seeing my wife (no pics) become a mom and watching my little girl (also, no pics) grow every day.

In my social circles, most of the the smart, high-earners are married to other smart, high-earners.
