J crew advertises a suite for under 300. Bought some stuff on Black Friday. Pretty sure the whole store is 60% off this weekend

Of course.

Most people couldn't tell the difference anyway.

It's not possible to buy a respectable suit for less than $5,000, peasant.

EDIT: Can't believe that it took until the second page. You disappoint me, OT.

My first few suits came from Overstock & Van Husen outlet malls.

On sale? It’s possible but not a guarantee.

Regular price? No.

You can look better wearing a $500 SuSu suit - if you care, and have a good tailor - than some baller who does not care and wears a $8,000 Kiton. Most important thing is attention to fit. You just need to take the time to figure out what works best for you.

Personally, after a certain price point, you are better off (in my opinion) going bespoke. Even the best RTW does not offer the same amount of shape that you can get from bespoke.

I bet $500 you have no idea how to buy a suit.

If you know your measurements and are diligent - Ebay

If boxier American made suits fit you ok, then try for HSM or Hickey on deep discount and get solid tailoring

Short answer is yes, you can

I'm just a bystander curious what you didn't like about that person's comment. Not a slim fit fan?

Not sure about all of their suits, but I have a Banana Republic suit that was made by Armani. Very nice suit for the price.

If you are a man who doesn't wear a suit for work, you can find many suits for under 500.

Most likely you and the people around you wouldn't even understand why a suit would cost more.

But if you are a professional it would be better to wear khakis and a sports coat than a cheap 500 dollar suit.

You would be seen as some one who cuts corners.

My father in law only wears bespoke suits but they are excwptindlly well made and some are 30 plus years old and you would never know it.

They might have cost a lot up front but the quality isn't even close to off the rack.

Know your audience.

The word bespoke makes my knuckles itch.

No, you’d just stick out and feel awkward if you did that.

If so, how?

I have a dude who flys in from Thailand. I can get a bespoke suit for just over 550 with the cheapest material, which is still pretty good. You need to find a guy.
