By way of anecdote, I've got some extended family that would be very ripe for COVID problems. Generally unhealthy, bigger, less sanitary, not proactive about medical treatment, multi-generations living on top of each other...all of it.
The difference is they basically live in the middle of nowhere and don't regularly get in large groups. I think they're a pretty good example of how despite all the warning signs, they're probably less at-risk than similarly-situated folks in heavily black areas like Albany, GA or New Orleans where you add density to those things.

Being black alone cannot be the main cause but the traditional health related issues suffered by the American black population indeed can be.
I dare say that virus victims in Africa are upward of 90 percent black and that less 10 percent of cases in Italy are black and, of course, less than 1 percent of cases in China are black.
It isn’t a black thing, it’s the underlying health of said infected people. The incidence of diabetes, hypertension and obesity in blacks is not racial, just factual.

I'm going to disagree that NOLA is worse off than NYC. Nearly every possible metric is planting all of NY much worse than all of LA now. And on what planet should Orleans Parish be compared to Albany County in upstate NY?

I’m also wondering what the history of all deaths will provide in the way of smoking. The older generation being infected has a higher percentage of regular smokers.
