About the author:

quote:

Jeremy met his wife, April, in Jerusalem in 1997 when they were students. They have five kids. They’ve founded and led several businesses and nonprofits including Epipheo (a video production agency), Just Sew (a quilt shop), Family Teams (training content for families), and 1000 Houses (a network of Cincinnati disciple-making households).

The dude runs a quilt shop and has the audacity to question rugby-loving, crackling-eating Bandit’s masculinity? Questionable

Bluey is a hill that I am willing defend and die on.

Seems like something Andrew Tate would write.

Now, I have my gripes about Bluey sometimes (like how whiney the girls are and just how much they get their way),
I’ve seen all of two episodes, and this jumped out to me. The kids are in charge. But, it’s a kids show, so whatever.

We’ve seen these attacks on shows and cartoons before with the way men were portrayed. It bothered me in the 90s-2000s that every dad in a sitcom was a buffoon.

And let’s not forget

Bandit might be my favorite TV dad. Ever.

Almost daily, my toddler son points to Bandit and says "thats you daddy"

melts me every time.

One thing I liked about Malcolm in the Middle. The parents had their own issues but they were Adults, they were In Charge, and their kids knew it.

The guy that wrote that needs to swan dive into an empty pool. Bandit has a job, mentions it multiple times that he can’t play because he has to work and he goes on a 2 month long business trip.

People that write this shite either don’t have kids or have kids that hate them

One of the most emotionally heavy episodes they have is Bandit having to decide whether or not to move his family. They do an excellent job of touching on the struggles both mom and dad face.

Its one of the best shows ever made. If I could forget one show and watch it again, it'd be trailer park boys. Bluey is in 2nd place.

Bluey is an a-hole who doesn't share and she basically runs the house with how the parents do whatever she says.

Bring on the downvotes

Or don't actually watch the show.

"OMG! Bluey is a girl. But blue is a boy color. They're trying to ruin masculinity!"

This is drivel.

Randomly people decided fathers of the 1950-1970s were the epitome of manliness, when in reality men were (and are) still adapting to the fact a large portion of us work non-dangerous office jobs. Men used to teach boys how to be men, as boys would be in the fields or under the tutelage of male role models as they learned their career. Half the reason we are in this mess is because fathers started working away from the home and removed themselves from teaching, and more and more young boys were basically surrounded by only female role models.

Runs a quilt shop and writes pretentious hand-wringing pseudo-intellectual dissertations about cartoons.

Kids absolutely need rough and tumble play with their fathers. It’s an absolute necessity to their development.

If they recorded my house in the morning or evening, this is exactly what they would see. My 2 YO daughter runs straight to me when she or I get home, and it's chase, wrestling, playing, reading, etc. I'm an electrical contractor and FF/EMT. Am I not a masculine father figure because I play with my daughter? It wouldn't be a very good kids show if it just showed parents at work.
