Over the weekend I was wondering if less people would eat out after this. I have a pretty unique living situation since we don't have any restaurants or stores here (we do have a food truck open about 5 hours a day for about 4 months where we can get a burger, milkshake, or a few other items). I have to pay an expediter in town to shop and deliver groceries to a local air taxi and then pay them roughly $1 per pound to have things flown out. Even so, I still spend less on meals than I did when I lived and worked in town.

Well, now that I think about it, I won't be paying aftercare to my daughter's school. It's about $200/mo but charged on a per day basis.

She's 13 so it's really more like study hall at school with a chaperone

I've offset any saving due to increased booze consumption.

This shutdown has highlighted how much my wife typically spends. Saving a lot right now.

Female spending drives the economy.

I should save about $200 month in gas and about $600 a month in eating out.

I've saved $1,000 easy between not going out to eat, bar/drinks, shopping, and gas. Plus, I haven't seen my GF in a couple weeks... that saves A LOT

these fricking kids are eating us broke. I'll never complain about paying their lunch fees ever again. Grocery bill has gone up 100% but there is savings in gas and lunch. I'd say a wash overall...

I haven’t worked in 5 weeks. No income from me and we are making it. And yes we live paycheck to paycheck when my wife thinks we have money but I’ve been hiding money in case of a lay-off not something this crazy.

I usually try to stay under 250 bucks a week for gas, food, entertainment, hunting/fishing. I put 150 of that in to savings in addition to my normal savings

My company handed out 20% pay reductions yesterday. Any savings will be offset.
