Maybe BR will be getting 10 inches 3 times in a short amount of time.

Yea, you should do that whenever and wherever. Just the overwhelming outpour of hell that is going on is far more superior than a single or scheduled act of kindness.

To be fair, no one else has been proven right yet either.

OP is right. Everyone was saying Barry was going to make big impacts... but turning out to just be hype.

You can explain the wildly inconsistent projections to me? Tell me how 10-15 inches of rain will cause river flooding that will rival 2016 when we got 30. I’m all ears[/quote]

Let’s make it simple.. There is more to it than your rain total being less than 30 inches this time.

The river is passing all of the rain water that fell as far away as Pennsylvania and Minnesota and there is more water is coming down behind it. Basically, the river is full. Water from the gulf is surging in, so all water levels will rise. You add a slow moving system dropping a ton of water on top of it and there could be some serious flooding. How these 3 forces will compound each other, nobody really knows. It all depends on tides, rain totals, and where exactly it falls for how long.

*If you add in the reliability of the flood management systems and how smart the people running them... You should come to the conclusion nobody really knows what the hell is gonna happen.

Praying for all of you guys down there. I hope it moves on through and there is minimal damage. I’d prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Good luck.

Hurricanes are over hyped for 90% of the people within The Cone. Short of a cat four or higher most of the people near landfall will be fine.

I agree with partyboy. So overhyped and no one will get 25” of rain. Most rivers are low currently with the exception of the Miss river.

I think OP was onto something. 4:30 AM update seems a lot less dire and Grimes is starting to have doubts we're going to reach that 10-15 inch projection.

Like most storms, it's been overrated this far

So you’re telling me that rivers all the way from Minnesota and Pennsylvania and wherever the frick else are somehow connected to and flow into the Amite, tickfaw and comite rivers? GTFO. The rivers have been low lately except for the MS river.

I always think of the Marilyn Manson from Bowling for Columbine. This was in 2001 and the media's fear mongering has only gotten worse.

quote:

Because that’s not the way the media wants to take it and spin it and turn it into fear. ‘Cause then you’re watching television, you’re watching the news; you’re being pumped full of fear. And there’s floods, there’s AIDS, there’s murder. You cut to commercial, buy the Acura, buy the Colgate. If you have bad breath, they’re not gonna talk to you. If you got pimples, the girl’s not gonna frick you. It’s a campaign of fear and consumption. And that’s what I think that’s it’s all based on, is the whole idea that: keep everyone afraid, and they’ll consume. And that’s really as simple as it can be boiled down to.
