Interesting question, happy to say yes!

I’d also have a crush on their mom.

My child self would probably think we’re loaded. I’d also honestly probably not want my child to play with my childhood self.
We were borderline neglected by today’s standards and pretty much feral. Riding our bikes to the beach and playing in the woods outside from sunup to sundown at like 8 years old. Parents had zero clue where we were most of the time. My kid wouldn’t know wtf to do lmao.

Yes, I would have thought them richer than we were. Would I have liked them, yes. Hung out with them, probably not. I was a bit wilder than my kids.

I would be blown away by their tiny battery-powered computer with no external keyboard that doubles as a phone and has this thing called “internet”.

There was a guy on a show called Quantum Leap that had a device like this, and I used to think how cool it would be to have something like that.

Yes, but I didn't have very high standards as a child

It's not that I wouldn't let my kid hang around my child self, but we definitely would never intersect. My kid doesn't hang around in the same crowds that I did as a child.

Yes. I grew up poor my kids aren’t.

Hell, the first flight I ever took was to basic training. My kids have all been out of the country.

I didn’t get to do that until my first deployment.

I would def think my kids were rich. Just knowing they were going to private schools would be enough to make me think that, but they are living a great life. Much better than I did.
Their friends are the real rich ones though for the most part.

Ehh, not rich. Middle class. I grew up way too comfortably thanks to my father's work. My kids have a great life, but not the life I had, which these days is orders of magnitude more expensive than when I was growing up. Skiing every year, international trips, full time housekeeper, etc. Those things on a relative basis are wildly more expensive than during my childhood.

I would, and I would be terribly mistaken.

So you didn’t do better than your parents even though you had all of those advantages?

Had I had just basic parenting, I would be a fricking mogul.

My kid lives a very privileged life, and I’m proud I could do that for her. She needs to move the ball forward and exceed anything I’ve done.

She has the ability and drive to do it.

I can't speak for Catfish John, but my parents put less effort into preparing their children for the real world as they progressed through having kids. They set the table for my big brother in a major way; I was left to figure things out on my own.

I thought everyone who lived in a brick house was rich. But I also thought rich people were more likely than me to burn in hell (camel through the eye of a needle and all that).

My son has two basketballs, neither of which are completely bald. He would be one of the richest kids I knew.
