Why, on average wouldnt you be giving reparations to people that are “retired early” already?

Hell, give me $2 million and I'll call it quits.

Thats a big fat NO for me

I would keep working at least until the kids are out of high school. $5 million is great and would reduce the amount of stress in raising kids and paying for their education, and as I work I can continue to build that $5million into something more that I can use to travel more and hopefully pass on to my kids.

I would invest in training for my new career that I would love and would also end up paying more than my current job

I wouldn’t have a full time job but I’d spend more time on my side business.

I’m under 40 and plan to put 3 kids through private school and college (none even in kindergarten yet).
I’d never work again with $5M.

If I could make 60k+ and still get off three months a year, I could do a lot of other jobs. I enjoy teaching, but it’s not my life.
So yes, I’d stop working, put away enough to live off the interest, and fix cars, build furniture, hike, etc. for the rest of my life. And I’d be happy.

I'm 32 so yeah, but I would give minimal effort.

I’d buy 5 million lottery tickets in hopes of becoming a millionaire. - AOC

I'd like to think that I would, but in reality I'd most likely quit immediately. I like my job alot, but the first weekday that the weather was good and the fish were biting I'd probably be done.

I wouldn't finish out the day
Posted on 3/21/24 at 3:47 pm to Thundercles
I’d quit. Pay off all debt and renovate my house, probably get a couple new vehicles and create some accounts for my kids. Then I would continue to live the way I live, kids would go to the same schools and all that.

I’m about 10 years from retirement. House will be paid off in 4. I would keep doing what I do now til house was paid then look for another position within my company with less stress and responsibilities, which obviously would also come with less pay and finish out the remainder of my 10 years. The 5 mill would be invested that whole time and my already planned comfortably retirement would become really comfortable.

I would for a while. I would use the money to build the house we are getting ready to build. Pay off any debt I have left. Fix up my old house to sell. After that I would work for a few more years to put some more money up for retirement. That way once I retire, I could live with no worries at all and still be able to leave something nice for my kids.
