I have a friend whose father owned a HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical company when he was growing up, so he learned all 3 by the time he graduated high school. Dude doesn't have a single college credit and is literally rolling in money. Mansion in Southlake, high-end sports cars, RVs, side-by-sides, etc. He started out turning wrenches, but has since been buying up other HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical companies. He no longer gets his hands dirty with the exception of all of the germs found on cash.

This is the truth. Service dept.’s in automotive and Atv/UTV dealerships cannot find enough workers, and the ones they do have are 40+ years old. A guy in teens or 20’s getting into this will be able demand anything once the older guys start retiring.

Finance bros will always be around. They'll never let robots take over because then they wouldn't have anyone to do coke with at a closing dinner.

I would have walked out of my high school graduation into electrician school and not thought twice about anything else

Both of those are good.

I’d also throw in accounting. Yeah the basic book keeper is going to be obsolete, but the average CPA is closing in on retirement, and a CPA is a fast track to upper management

Electrical or computer engineering, coupled with robotics.

I'm STEM. But, our robotics contractors have pick of jobs. There is more work than they know what to do with.

So many fields threatened by imported slave labor (H1B), exportation, automation, or obsoleting.

What's left to rationally consider? My oldest is leaning toward Engineering or Law, maybe both.

If it's difficult and requires brain cells that other kids won't do, there's your answer.

Medicine, engineering, finance, math, chemistry...
