If there was ever any doubt that a well-designed bioweapon would be extremely effective

There shouldn’t be anymore. Does this level the playing field? Think if you’re some shithole country and wanted to cripple the superpowers.

Our entire economy has been disrupted for a virus that has, so far, infected 0.001% of our population and has a mortality rate of under 1%.

Edit: corrected bad math

Yeah, we're pretty fricked if something serious is unleashed.

It’s scary to think of what a virus that infects 30-40% of the population and has a mortality rate of 10% would do. There would be a complete societal breakdown.

A bio weapon that’s a virus is dumb. It won’t discriminate based on the enemy.

I would think that part of well-designed means having a vaccine in hand and administered selectively before/during launching it.

That would decimate us.

Absolutely. The fatality rate is currently only based on positive tests. We know for a fact that we are missing thousands of cases that are mild and asymptomatic.

So are you saying that Covid-19 flu is a deadly bio weapon now?

It’s a thought that needs to be addressed. The world has seen the chaos and damage it has done to our economy

yes, it's quite evident that the US FedGov will staunchly resist any POTUS who tries to inject a shot of competency and responsibility into the people who work in FedGov. As such, the USA is the "Most Woke" nation-state in history, but, is very vulnerable to even the slightest disruption of the Bubble World in which 99 percent of US citizens reside.

Of course, our Rulers have been talking about severe population reduction programs for years now. You never know when they might decide to actually do it.

No. I'm not sure where you got that from my post. I'm simply stating that the impacts this has caused has made clear how effective a bioweapon would be.

I'm sure many people have realized this for a long time, but I think this is an eye-opener for the general public. It's not difficult to think that some countries would take the opportunity to cripple the superpowers if given the chance, and this has shown that they don't need a particularly effective bioweapon to do it.

Yeah, was watching the Navy Seals show on History last night, and thought that al qaeda will use this to just work on a virus of their own and pass it out quietly across the globe, including many cities in the US all at once.

We're talking about the people that strap bombs to themselves...don't think they are afraid to infect themselves with their virus. #virginswaiting

So would deploying nuclear weapons. From all indications, that won't stop them.

No.

A) poor countries are less able to afford to create this than a 1st world country.

B) Plagues hurt poor countries far worse than rich ones.
