Wish to challenge this a bit.

If proof was so clear, should we not be more aligned to it as a world (vs 70% of people on Earth who are non Christians)?

God cannot miss this badly? Unless this is indicative of just how flawed people are. That has been my conclusion.

But raises a few important questions. If so flawed, why would God give such an important role to a flawed man to capture and spread His word for same man’s eternal salvation?

He let man write His word (Bible), carry His message to the world limited by mode of the day, in the human context of the time, place, culture and given the complexity of languages translation, across many years.

All by the same flawed people for which John 3:16 even happened.

Have never been able to reconcile this. What am I missing?

Sincerely curious. Not meant to be flippant. Find it interesting that some see clear proof but most do not agree.

The same reason I don’t believe in Bigfoot, ghosts, alien visitations, reincarnation, ESP, etc. There’s no compelling evidence for such things.

Again, I recommend the books I mentioned earlier. I’ll add Mere Christianity by CS Lewis as well.

Faith in Christ is not only rational, it is more rational than disbelief.

Logically I see this in how natural selection works and has led to so much species-level success along with horrific suffering of individuals.

Everything makes sense in a purely materialist framework, but it bothers the hell out of me that such an unintelligent unconscious process could give rise to conscious beings with enough awareness to experience the pain but no way to alter the structure of existence.

South American philosopher Julio Cabrera calls this “frictioned terminality” and devastatingly elucidates the existential dissonance I’ve experienced since the age of about 12.

It could be said that hell is a place for holding until the final judgment. Then these individuals are destroyed from existence and are no longer suffering.

Heaven is beyond human comprehension and they do not thing think us on earth. I would imagine it is so wonderful that they forgot the previous lives they lived.

All that cognitive capacity and capability granted to the human experience, yet reduced to just survival and reproduction…?

I’d like to think (pun intended) that we have far more capacity to engage life than just the adrenal gland and gonads.

The Apostles that lived and traveled with Jesus saw the miracles he performed. They were so convinced that he was who he said he was, that they traveled the world, after his death and resurrection to preach his Gospel knowing they would be killed. Why would any sane man do this unless they knew for a fact Jesus was the Son of God?

Jesus said that the road to heaven is very narrow and most people will never enter.

He told the rich man to give up his wealth and follow him. The rich man was sad and went his way. Jesus wasn't angry but understood that the kingdom of heaven isn't for everyone and many individuals just don't want to go. They like being who they are and don't see any need to change. That's fine and you can't force them.

Because if God did everything himself then us humans wouldn't have the choice to make our own decisions. We would just be robots. No one wants to live a life as a robot.

Flawed humans throughout history have accomplished great feats, beat the odds and endured like no other. Sometimes you got to do things yourself and that makes it that more satisfying.

Jesus also told a few that they would die some horrible deaths and they did. They still carried on knowing that.

Most if not all people would have not pursued it.

Compelling!

Curious why then is Jesus, as son of God, not universally accepted as truth? And what were the primary factors that led to a world of religious pluralism?

There's no such thing as an atheist. We humans will worship something outside of ourselves no matter what.

Most people prefer to worship themselves.

We have many people on earth that see themselves as gods.

His argument completely falls apart that going good gives him personal pleasure when someone comes along that says doing evil gives them personal pleasure.

Jeffrey Dahmer did what he did because he enjoyed it too.

Everyone just doing whatever the hell they want by their own code isn't freedom. Evil human beings oppress each other far more than God ever did.

They arent worshipping themselves. They're worshipping the feeling and persona they get from pretending to have it all figured out. The pursuit of certainty becomes intoxicating and that control becomes their god.

From what I saw, he proved nothing of value beyond poking at Pascal.
His argument boils down to arguing to God that he resisted even the weakest level of faith in God.
I pray for this man, but a hardening of that depth might well grieve the Holy Spirit.
OTOH, it would be a solid display for this man to repent.
Hope springs eternal.

Probably not. I think it would be a hollow life.

What is good and how do we determine what is good? In other words, is there a universal good?

Atheism is fundamentally inseparable from nihilism when you follow it to its logical conclusion. Rejecting the idea of a God is actually the easy part. Swallowing everything that logically entails is not which is why so many atheists swap in so much imaginary "meaning" after they reject the idea of a God.

That's not even an argument that atheism is incorrect. I'm just saying if it is correct all meaning, purpose, and value is a completely artificial, imaginary construct made up by people, and is every bit as "imaginary" are the fictional god you dismissed. If atheism is correct and you're an atheist who still somehow believes in meaning, you've simply traded one made up human fairy tale for another.

What makes you think I haven’t read these books? They have been discussed for years on religious topics like this one.

Because my conclusions are different than yours doesn’t mean I haven’t done my research.

On Earth, isn’t that a red flag to avoid people who seek our subservience and those intoxicated by such gestures?

Surely you can believe in God, as well as heaven and not embrace the authoritarian deity model.
