re: Texas Rod Company and other Texas/LA rod makers
Posted by WestBay on 4/9/24 at 8:31 pm
Is the Salinity the move if I go Waterloo? I think the reason I'm not big on them is I heard a buddy completely trash them. He fishes more than I do but I don't know him that well. He might just be hyperbolic and probably owns high end rods from other makers and is just talking shite. Sampling bias o...
re: Costco Picanha Roasts

One of my favorite things to do is cook a picanha on my bge and then cut it up with my boys on a cutting board and just let them go to town. Such a flavorful cut of meat. The fat cap is what makes it great. ...
Those rods look to be all made from MHX blanks which are Chinese blanks. They put together the rods in Texas so it is "made in the US".
The specific one you linked is made with some of the cheapest components you can make a rod from. Yes, it's assembled in the US, but all the materials are...

Really appreciate all the responses. Sounds like I may need to reconsider a Salinity. Very good to know about the price points. Thats why I was a little confused with these Spinning rods from Texas Rod Company. I'm guessing these are just cheaper Chinese blanks that they stick their logo on?

Posted by WestBay on 4/7/24 at 3:22 pm
Anyone know much about Texas Rod Company? I have a Laguna Liquid series casting rod but I'm in the market for an inshore spinning rod and would like something made in Texas or Louisiana. Budget is 200 tops but would prefer something in the 150 range. For some reason Im not crazy about Waterloo. Targ...

At night I'd be setting a few poles out with bells/lights on the rod tips. Drink beer and wait until I hear them ring or see the light bouncing. Nightcrawlers, pig liver, and stinky shrimp work well for me.
How would you rig it. Egg sinker slip rig?...
Give me the baw's guide to this vrbo property- especially the lake

The property owner told me its 40 feet deep at the dam. That seems crazy to me. Should I expect the bass to be hanging out down there still waiting for the water to warm up?
Theres catfish and crappie in there too supposedly. Any help on what to thro...

re: Austin, TX: "You reap what you sow".

Unfortunately it will have to hit rock bottom before anything actually changes. I'm not sure what that looks like but I doubt it will be allowed to get to that point. Instead, its going to stay a permanently mediocre place to live. ...
