I said in my opinion. Which is what you asked for.

If they were up for one the most powerful and influential jobs in the country and it involved somebody's death, rape, or serious debilitating injury, then yes I would feel obligated at that point even if I still didn't want to.

I honestly probably would have forgotten it by then, or had such an unclear memory of it, I wouldn't trust what I could recall.

The pope has moved him around so much you'll never find him.

I wouldn’t have waited under your scenario.

How heinous of an act are we talking about? Did this person tie us up and rape our mother, while we were forced to watch, and it was broadcast on national television?
I mean, short of that, if you can't get the frick over some crap that happened 20 years ago, you might have serious psychological issues.

That's my point.
Do you think it's rational to still be pissed and scheming revenge because someone stuffed you in a locker, knocked your tooth out, or stole your gf, 20 years ago?
People need to let stupid shite go.

If that person was about to be in a serious position of power and I knew he was a scumbag I would probably want to come forward and say something.

Either I report it when it happened or I let it go..
Pretty simple..
That's the easy answer for the most part. It depends what they did and what they may be doing currently as to whether I might bring it back up... but more than likely I'm not.

Statute of limitations
does not apply to this particular attempted act
What act other than murder does have a "statute of limitations" on it?
Your whole point is asking whether or not you are someone wiling to smear someone 20 yrs later. Most likely cause you are jealous

You've said something similar to this twice now. Yet, you don't see that it can be said to you as well. It's as though you're trying to argue that if you were attacked as a younger person it's more likely that you wouldn't report it when it happened. Why is the default method to not report something when it happens, and instead wait 20 years to then decide based on someone's current life choices.

no I would have kicked their arse 20 years ago
Posted on 10/9/18 at 8:59 am to Masterag
No, because said attacker would no longer be among the living.
ETA -- I assume by heinous you mean truly heinous, not pussy heinous like "he said mean things to me"

Let's not get bogged down in the reasons why you didn't report sooner, this thread is not about that.
But seriously, if it was "heinous" why did you wait so long?
Posted on 10/9/18 at 10:07 am to Masterag
Why not report it? Here me out, some people do not report things for many reasons: fear, money, etc. If you are in a position to report it, why not do it to prevent whatever it was from happening again?
Only if it is a real something though, if little johhny took your apple juice in 4th grade, piss off.

Yep. This is what I've gathered while reading through this thread.
