The latest HWRF run ... YIKES!

Boat, Duke, etc. can correct me, but when we're within the current timeline, the HWRF is a very solid model.

We packed up and left Tampa this morning. We live on the water so we decided to not risk it. Lots of friends staying to wait it out, but they are from Mid West. They don’t understand that 7-10 days without power in the heat and humidity is what kills you, not the storm.

Smart man. I said this in an earlier post but leaving can leave you annoyed; staying can leave you regretful. It’s a really big distinction.

HWRF is our best at intensity. Path can be hit or miss

Gotcha. If you watch that run, it still hits Tampa because it rides the coast up. Tampa still not out of the woods yet. I think these south adjustments continue, but that HWRF run isn't unbelievable either.

The HMON agrees with HWRF with 938 mb and 120 or 125 knots at Ian's peak intensity.

I left the morning of Ida

Same with me, we left at 2am that Sunday morning. Smooth sailing to Houston.

Had friends and family asking for updates during it. They sounded desperate for it to pass and be over with.

Which neighborhood? Some are higher and better equipped to drain. There is a huge drop-off on the west side.

He’s in “lake in the woods”

Is that place relatively high?

Jesus, we better be thankful it's almost October and we have a potent trough in the NE. Got damn.

As soon as my co-workers that were born here unanimously said that we will definitely lose power, I decided to head out. I’m not dealing with that shite. Good luck to my pinellas county bros that are holding the fort down.
