I shite a lot on Baton Rouge (and it's still bad), but the new College Dr exit is great

I knew there was work being done (as always), but when I approached from New Orleans on westbound I-10, I almost had to double take 3x when I saw the new sign for College Dr. This was well done, and I can tell it has done a lot to help the congestion at the 10/12 merge.

There is still more work to be done than will probably be done in my lifetime (if ever), but this was well done by whichever civil engineer had the idea to reduce the absolute cluster of cars trying to get over from 10 westbound.

The traffic in BR is still a serious quality of life problem there, but I have to give credit where it's due when we do something right.

I agree with this except on college headed north, there is only one lane that turns onto corporate now and it backs up traffic.

It’m impressed every time I take it. They did well.

It's well done, too bad the area immediately after it is so inadequate

Gonna be nice in 2034 when I-10 is 4x4 from the split to 110 and it's smooth sailing through Baton Rouge.

Besides the whole completely fricking college drive by blocking the right turn only lane at corporate for whatever fricking reason.

I still thought for years they'd need to demo the Washington St. exit from 10 eastbound, but the elevated interstate and guardrails don't make for easy interstate widening. I even tried to come up with a solution several times as I was slowly driving through it over the years. I hope that's high on the to-do list because it's like having a chronic car accident in the right lane when it forces traffic over like that.

I think you’d find that most of why College Dr itself is in bad shape is because people can’t read signs.

There are literally people exiting the interstate onto College and then turning onto Corporate, instead of using the Corporate direct exit lane. That by itself is creating issues.

I took 10 west to exit at Acadian so I could get to LSU.

I just stayed in the far right through lane and it was smooth sailing all the way to Acadian. I didn’t have to change lanes one time.

A lot better now.

Just wait until LDOT permanently closes the Perkins onramp north onto I-10. It’s already a cluster to go north on Acadian and will be a complete and permanent logjam when they add this many new cars to the mix.

The problem is government.

Everywhere.

These projects should have been kicked into high gear the day after Katrina.

Really should have started before that, but Baton Rouge metro blew up and didn't have the roads for the amount of people.

doing something is fine.. Thats like one area of some of the worst traffic for a fairly small city. Dallas makes Louisiana traffic look like a cake walk

I guess it would make sense if they wanted to be on the left lane on Corporate from the very beginning.

It’s awesome. Everyone who I’ve seen complaining elsewhere is complaining about things that didn’t even change, like the need for Essen to I-10 on-ramp traffic to move over quickly to stay on I-10. The TL:DR of it is most people are dumbasses and can’t read signs. If I had to change one thing, I’d ask them to dump the traffic bound for Corporate onto a new Trust Drive ramp instead of the current setup where it joins College for .02 seconds.

Also the people that can't read a sign so use the Corporate direct lane and try to get on college at the light where they should be turning right onto Corporate

And there are people using the corporate only exit lane and trying to get on to college. It’s a complete cluster.

Looks like they are going to extend it and combine it with the Dalrymple exit. The traffic circle at the exit will be interesting on game days!

They will have a barricade preventing I-110 S traffic from accessing the Washington St exit. This move alone will likely cut Gordon's revenue by 20% and cause a significant reduction in car insurance rates in the area!

The entire proposed design of the I-10 widening in Baton Rouge is very good.

The construction part of it will be a nightmare. It's going to take so long that they'll have to widen it again when they are done.
