I moved from a gov't owned neighborhood in NY to a Basic White people suburb in South Carolina. My culture shock probably paled in comparison to moving from the Bay Area to Texas...

San Francisco has a lot of great parks. Maybe the best main city park of any city. But their parks currently have tenants that lessen the appeal.

So a communist didn’t like the utopia of southern socialists.

Commies and Nazis don’t get along...who knew?

man I dunno, I was in San Fran in may of 19 and it was fricking chilly. I dont like cold so it wasnt my thing. Being on the water was downright cold during the middle of the day.

Its pretty nice during the day though, but when the sun goes down...no thanks. No thanks to the fog too.

Wine country was pretty nice, but it was chilly in the morning.

Overall I would live in the area in a heart beat if I had a bad arse job paying me millions or could afford to retire to wine country with millions, but its not perfect weather.

Austin is hot as shite though and not my scene and can 100% understand why someone would prefer Northern Cali.

The public spaces thing was funny. Mentions the Sierras... but lived in SD. I mean, that's 500
miles away lol

Although we doubled the size of our house (and kitchen and yard), we felt more cramped and cooped up in Austin than San Diego or San Jose due to the bad weather and lack of public spaces

How's the Ganja in the Lone Star State? Do Texans smoke American grown herb or do they still import the bricks?

I would rather give up

In exchange for this.

(downtown lifestyle, BBQ, football, live music, nice houses, professional opportunity) and that you won't miss the things you're leaving behind (good weather, public spaces, etc.)

As for as the weather. I like the change in seasons. Not a fan of the cold, but its South Texas, its not like they have brutal winters. But hey.. Different strokes for different folks.
