I left and came back for family. Wife and I were planning on leaving again until the hurricanes. I'm here for a few years due to the amount of work I have under contract right now but we will be leaving again eventually just for new experiences but will always keep a home here.

I’m proposing they change it from a City to an Outpost. It has about as much reliability and usefulness.

I used one of wife’s bowls to bath in after Laura. Lathered up one night and pissed in bowl before I realized it, said F it and rinsed.

The infrastructure of Lake Charles is so high tech they’ve been pleading with people to turn their faucets off so they can retain water pressure.

The goofball we elected for $25K a year apparently can’t shoot people straight and say...we have shite utilities. We can’t improve it. We don’t know what we’re doing.

I live in more central lake Charles. No electricity. No water. How that’s achieved simultaneously without massive devastation bests the hell out of me.

I can if you're into that sort of thing. I'm very accommodating and don't judge.

We lived behind Kroger's in 97 and I caught drainage from their downspouts.

I have a giant blue rain barrel just for this.

I use it to bag leaves in the fall as well.

the next place I'm buying has a well.

The problem is that most wells have a pump that's 240.

Most generators are 110.

We have a well. It may end up being the reason we get a Generac.

Normally, I'd make fun of Lake Charles because, well, Lake Charles. But you guys have been through enough this last year.

That sucks, dude.

Also, preparedness isn't just for hurricane season.

Yeah, lived with my mother in law over the summer. Electricity was out for 7 days. She is on well water so no electricity means no water pump. We had no power, water, or A/C in 90 degree heat at the height of the pandemic with three kids under 5. It sucked big time.

Lysol wipes are great if you want to freshen up since you can’t shower.

Did they give y’all a warning they were cutting water off? Or did it just go out?

No warning on power or water. Powers been back but still possible rolling blackouts.
