ChatGPT says these home gadgets can beep.
quote:

Smoke Alarms: Beep periodically to indicate proper functioning or low battery.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Emit beeps to warn of the presence of carbon monoxide.

Security Systems: Some security systems produce intermittent beeps to indicate their status or alert the homeowner.

Refrigerators: Some refrigerators beep when the door is left open for an extended period or the temperature is out of range.

Microwaves: May beep periodically to signal the end of a cooking cycle.

Oven Timers: Kitchen ovens often beep to indicate that the set cooking time has elapsed.

Washing Machines/Dryers: Some appliances beep to signal the end of a wash or drying cycle.

Medical Devices: Some medical devices, like blood glucose monitors or home healthcare equipment, may produce periodic beeps.

Smart Home Devices: Certain smart home devices, such as thermostats or security cameras, may beep as alerts or notifications.

Power Backup Systems: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) devices may beep to signal a power outage or low battery.

That's too damn many.

ETA: had this happen once with a kid's Christmas toy too.

That’s annoying, it’s usually a smoke detector in my house is the culprit

It is a smoke detector

That or CO detector was my first thought -> but it could be one of those auto vacuums that is off its charger.

Water leak detector. I put one behind the washing machine and forgot about it. FFW a year or so, and we keep hearing an odd beep. Took forever to figure it out.

I remember that. I believe he made it sound like a cricket and the guy tore apart his office looking for it

The only leak detector I have is on the water heater. So, as I was checking it......I heard the beep.

I just took the batteries completely out of the weather radio. It was coming from the area it is in. Let's see if that fixed it.

I had one of those when I moved in this Florida house. I was living here by myself for a few months while my wife finished her job up in Georgia

Would beep like that every 5 mins or 10 mins. I never could find it and It was making me insane

Found it finally. It was the dishwasher which I didnt use because I just didnt need it. It had the controls and lights on the top of the door which was hidden by the counter top. The door was slightly opened which made it beep. Took me a week to find it and I wanted to just unplug that fricker after I found it

Attic smoke detector is by far the most likely cause. My MIL had that problem and it was driving them crazy walking around the house while trying to figure it out. Had to go up into the attic and sit for a while to get to the problem. A quick battery change and all was good for a long time.

Had this once and it was a stupid CO2 alarm, that I forgot I even owned. It was trying to tell me that it’s battery was low.

Mystery solved!

It was, in fact, the weather radio. It would only beep every ten minutes, and my removing the batteries didn't stop it.

So, I Googled and found this:

quote:

Recently several NOAA Weather Radio listeners have noticed excessive audible beeps emitting from their radios, specifically owners of the Midland WR-120 model radio.  The Midland WR-120 desktop NOAA weather radio knows it is supposed to receive a weekly test from the National Weather Service every seven days.  If the radio goes for ten days without receiving a test, it gives out one audible beep every ten minutes.

The weekly NOAA Weather Radio tests are conducted every Wednesday between 11 am and Noon local time.  However if hazardous weather threatens during this time the test may be postponed.  It has been observed that Midland WR-120 radios, having not received a weekly test in the past ten days, are now beeping once every ten minutes.

The radio will re-set itself at the next weekly test, or the next watch/warning issuance.  If you cannot wait that long:  To cancel the beeping, unplug the radio from the wall, turn the radio over, and remove one battery.  Replace the battery and plug the radio back in.  The settings on the radio will NOT be affected by this, as the SAME county code, and all other information is stored on a flash memory chip.

I guess since we've had all the cold weather and Winter weather warnings/advisories they didn't do the weekly test in the past ten days.

I don't have to burn down the house now! What a relief.

My bedroom tv comes on randomly between 3-5am almost every morning. I’ve tried everything, it has no external inputs, reset factory settings, and turned off any timers. It’s not even every morning and it’s not the exact same time. The beep is aggravating and so is waking up to the tv on.

My job is doing telcom work in people's houses. I carry a pack of 9 volt batteries on my truck because some folks will have a beeping smoke alarm that they are apparently able to ignore. I'll only be in their house for an hour or so, but I'll change the damn battery myself just to keep from hearing it that long.
