I am a Great Value guy.
Super cheap and chocolate milk is the same price as regular milk.
Also, in some places Walmart Milk is Borden with a Walmart label.
Next year they are supposed to open a Walmart dairy in Richardson Texas.

Walmart organic whole milk is actually pretty good too. I’ll buy it or Horizon.

Milk and eggs is a main reason I go to the farmers market.
If you live in New Orleans the Sunday city park farmers market has a number of decent options.
The T&R Dairy Farm is my favorite for milk and they also sell the only yogurt worth buy it in the city.

Go with Ultra pasteurized. Keeps indefinitely at room temperature unopened and after it's opened lasts a month in your refrigerator.

Great Value Organic.
Very long expiration date. I don’t know why but check it out. Maybe they get it to the grocer sooner?
Good stuff

Prairie Farms is really good.
Nope. They bought Turner dairy here a while back... it's crap now. Kroger milk is better than Prairie Farms. There's some milk that comes in a glass bottle my wife gets at Fresh Market... JD Country milk. Darn good. From somewhere up in Kentucky.

I had to stop buying the shite! My 15 yo doesn't really drink milk, but she will go 3 Fairlifes a week. At $5 for 52 Oz, I can buy beer for the same price!

We’ve had the same problem, you may get one day after opening before it taste disgusting. Even maybe a week before expiration

Oak Farms and Borden both produce milk for WalMart and it is relabeled as Great Value.
They aren't the only dairy farms that do it, but they absolutely produce Great Value brand milk.

Posted on 7/6/25 at 9:36 pm to DiamondDog
Didn’t read the whole thread but very disappointed there was no mention of the finest Ethiopian breast milks on page 1

I sampled whole and 2%. Skim is just water. It's only made for cooking and old people.
Mind you, I am lactose intolerant. I really put myself through it for this data.

quote:Somewhat related: I was in a Houston Walmart last weekend, and they were selling GV brand milk for $2.22/gal. That's compared to $4.11 in Baton Rouge. Like almost half our local price. Any idea why there's so much of a price disparity?
