LOL

I have a team to support and a manager who holds me accountable. Performance grades, bonuses, and pay raises all mean things in the real world.

Do you get 10 sick days or 10 total days off per year?

If you work at a place that gives you 10 total days off per year, you need to quit now. That is borderline abusive.

We can roll over like 40 hours or something and the rest get banked towards supplemental sick bank. If you're out for extended health issues/FMLA you can use the supplemental bank. You can't dip in them for normal sick days.

I can roll over sick leave indefinitely, no max. That policy was changed a few years ago but I was grandfathered in.

If I didn't have the sick leave I would have had to dip into vacation and then family medical unpaid leave.

It’s all BS. They’re not sick. They just happen to call in on Fridays and some Mondays very blatantly.

But the lack of self control to use them up so quickly. You know. What if they wanted to be off sick February or even March! Lord forbid they actually get sick in the 2nd half of the year.

Tell your company to get into modern times and designate everything as PTO instead of separating sick from vacation. That way employees use their days for whatever they want without having to give a reason and without fellow employees questioning their motives.

I’m 33 and dealing with sciatica since 2017. On January 5th my back gave out again and I’ve been in more doctors offices than customers offices since then. shite happens man.

Luckily I’m in sales so as long as I get my shite done I don’t use up my days.

We just fired a few people who had been doing this after theybwere asked to provide proof of doctor’s visits.

How or why people think they can take repeatedly take off Monday/Friday is ridiculous.

I hope your company lays you off for 3 days for being an a-hole. But just moderately an a-hole.

If it’s okay to ask, what did you have done? I’ve been having knee issues and am afraid it might be something that requires surgery.

God sometimes I'd trade my salary for your state job benefits.

Okay no I won't. But I can still resent you.

My dad was a DOTD employee and had MONTHS of accrued K-Time as he called it back then in the 90s. Was paid sick time he rolled over so many years.

Usually some a-hole comes to the office while sick and spreads it to everyone. Used all 5 of my sick days by February of last year because someone thought it was a good idea to come to work with the flu. frick those people. If you’re sick stay at home.

Meniscus repair and ACL reconstruction.

On my right leg, so over 6 weeks without being able to drive or put weight on it. And still several months of PT to look forward to.

Maybe if Americans actually got enough vacation days like the rest of the world we wouldn’t have to use our sick days. frick off if you don’t like someone living their life and putting their job on the back burner. I work to live, not live to work.

We get 5 sick days a year, I always use them all. Not letting them go to waste because they don't roll over. Can also use them as vacation days. Not really sure why we don't just label them all PTO.

I could care less what people decide to do with their sick days. If I don’t see them at the office again at the end of the 4th quarter performance review, that’s their problem.

We just have one bucket of PTO to use as you please. Doesn't matter if you're sick or not. Makes it a whole lot easier, and less for supervisors to worry about. If someone calls in saying they aren't feeling well, it doesn't matter if they're telling the truth or not, that's a day of PTO.

Someone could just be tired as frick and not feel like going in. They can just tell their boss they've been sleeping like shite the past few nights and need a day to catch up. Just have to keep in mind, that day to catch up on sleep takes away from a day of taking off for something a whole lot better than laying around sleeping.

It's all about opportunity cost.
