I don’t know how people can blow through their sick days so quickly

We get 7+3 sick days a year. We have two people who’ve already almost used all of them up.
It’s all BS. They’re not sick. They just happen to call in on Fridays and some Mondays very blatantly.
But the lack of self control to use them up so quickly. You know. What if they wanted to be off sick February or even March! Lord forbid they actually get sick in the 2nd half of the year.

So? What difference does it make? Do they get extra sick days handed to them for using them up so quickly?

We just fired a few people who had been doing this after theybwere asked to provide proof of doctor’s visits.
How or why people think they can take repeatedly take off Monday/Friday is ridiculous.

Why do you care if someone blows through their sick days too early?

I use my sick days to have fun. I'll just come into the office sick since I'm probably not doing anything anyways and because I hate my coworkers.

I had a knee surgery in early December and had to use up about 25 of them. Good thing I've been here for a while and they all roll over.

Do you even mental health days?

No, they get less next year.
It doesn’t actually impact anything right now. But the lack of self control is just shocking.

What does this mean? You get 7 days regular PTO and 3 sick days for a total of 2 weeks off in a year?

We can roll over like 40 hours or something and the rest get banked towards supplemental sick bank. If you're out for extended health issues/FMLA you can use the supplemental bank. You can't dip in them for normal sick days.
We have people that get "sick" when they've accumulated 8 hours magically. Always carry a 0 hour balance. It's mildly annoying but those are the people that get their raises reduced and allotted towards employees who actually work. They also don't get promotions once that habit is established.

We don’t even get sick days. You are expected to be a professional and can miss work as needed when you are really sick.
I have missed a total of four days over the past three years for “sick time”.
I used to work closely with some lower end hourly folks and it was sad how often they called in sick. The excuses used were sometimes quite funny as well:

No, 3 weeks vacation and 7 sick days. 3 sick days roll over. Everyone but these guys have 10 sick days this year.
