Along those lines I should say all of my YTTV access has been via Roku, PS4, or Chromecast with very little issues. Playstation Vue used to have some video issues that drove me up a wall but I've enjoyed YTTV with no glaring issues coming to mind.

PS4, Apple TV, and chromecast have all worked perfectly for me as well as apps on Samsung and apple phones. I’ve had it for about a year now but only used it on my phone on the go for a while. We moved and instead of changing my service, I dropped cable to use this full time. After about a week, I just sat there wondering why the hell I didn’t do it earlier.

Similar here. Google fiber gigabit + YTTV + Netflix is about $136/month for me. $147 if you include amazon prime. I also get HBOmax from AT&T but through my cell phone plan.
My uverse TV+internet was about $200.

Jones has to live chat easily every 6-8 weeks due to random charges on the bill. What's funny is we are chatting them re: the bill being too high, and they hound you multiple times at the end about adding things that raise the bill.

You have to leave Cox or threaten to leave Cox in order for them to work with you. I had to do it several times. Last time they went up $25, I called and said I was ready to drop it after they said there wasn’t much they could do. Then she puts me on the phone with someone else who says “looks like we have this promo going on now.” They gave me the same package I had plus the HBO’s for $5 less than before they jacked it up on me. They’re basically like a flea market. But when you tell them you want to drop them you have to be ready to do it. Also, it says in the title you begged. Mistake there. You are the boss, act like it.

It's really not. Just cut the fricking cord. It's next to no effort to add YoutubeTV. You don't even have to talk to anyone. You just download it like anything else. It's easy AF.
But by all means, continue to get buttplugged by Cox for an extra 1500 or so a year.

You're better off looking for alternatives like an attic antenna in combination with You Tube, Prime, Hulu or Roku, etc. Lots of info in Tech.
We dumped Direct a few years ago because the quality/time we were watching was not worth their price increase.
They hounded us to renew for over a year with incentives before giving up.
Glad we did it.

My concern is just that I will have to still pay for Cox internet, and we use Cox home phone for the alarm system (my SO refuses to bend on this and switch to mobile). So by the time we pay both of those to Cox and then pay YouTube TV, is there still a savings?
The home phone is more expensive when not bundled with TV, so that would go up. Probably same for internet.

5 boxes? What is that, like $40-$50 right off the bat? Get some Rokus or Fire Sticks for the rooms that don't have your DVR boxes. Most networks now have apps that will let you watch their stuff if you get them through cable.
You are also paying for the sports package when there are no sports. You should have dropped that a month or two ago. Does Cox not let you alter your package month to month? Spectrum let's me add and drop extras whatever I want whenever I want so it seems strange to me that you'd be stuck with a sports package that essentially can't be used right now.
