Yeah they announced it in early May but haven’t said a date yet. I had literally started my free trial of philo the day before.

I didn't know cable was still a thing....

Yeah, YouTube TV has been great. I slashed my bill in half and then some. You get all the ESPNs and SEC Network, AMC, the major networks, and many other channels which they keep adding to for $50 per month (limitless recording storage too). The annoying commercial break song on ESPN at times is about the only complaint I have considering the savings and convenience.

Honestly with no sports right now, I feel like a sucker for even paying for YoutubeTV. How did we become so addicted to cable?

Imagine being the dumbass paying a cool $3500+ a year for shitty cable.

Between Sling, YouTubeTV, television network apps, and HD antennas there is no reason to have to pay that much for TV. Even if you just pay for internet there are several apps (like NBC and Fox for example) that will give you channels they own for free. That includes “cable” channels they own like FS1, USA, etc.
There are packages out there with 50+ channels and DVR for like $30-40. Do yourself a favor and research the above options.

I'm always curious what the actual monthly bill is for cord cutter testimonials. Like YTTV is straight up $50/month, all in? That would be rare. I get the feeling people are understating their actual costs by 10-20% in threads like these.

It depends on what you want, but it’s always going to be drastically cheaper than cable or satellite packages. A basic example
Internet = $70
SlingTV (50+ channels, DVR, OnDemand) = $45 flat w/tax / or YouTubeTV (nearly same options) = $50 flat w/tax
So you’re looking at $120 right there. You can add HBO, Showtime, etc for another $12 each per month, etc. Also, Sling offers $30 packages that include 40+ channels as well so you can go even cheaper if you don’t want certain channels.

I totally cancelled Cox, then upon returning my boxes (8 of them), they renegotiated at over $160 LESS Per month for the same services...
Ia way better deal can be done, you just have to be ready to walk...not just threaten, but show up with all the crap in hand ready to leave.
$160/mo. X 24 mos. = $3840.00....worth it.

Yea but companies like Cox are notorious for lowering the bill when customers try to leave, and then a few months later they start raising the bill again every month. It’s a constant back and forth game with cable companies.
With SlingTV and YouTubeTV it’s a flat rate. They don’t tamper with the bill every month with miscellaneous BS fees.

OK, let's try it this way. You can get Comcast internet plus 125 channels for $80/month.
My point is OP gives you an all-in price on his service, and the responses are all "bro, $70 for internet and $50 for x alternative for TV, boom I spend $184 less than you."
That's not even an honest comparison of your apples to his oranges.

I’m in basically the same boat....if it weren’t for watching college football, I’d do away with the whole shite and fashion an antenna out of a coat hanger and aluminum foil.

You have to tell them you want to leave their service. They will make you wait forever on the phone but eventually they will give a deal. But internet only is the way to go these days
(Unless you are a heavy gambler and need all the sport channels)
