I would definitely bring up when you were speeding, b/c school is out an they may just not want to deal with it. They may offer an NPC, which is dismissal for court costs.
Do I do this before court or just call the DAs office?

If you go to court you can:
1. Hope the cop doesn't show and your ticket should be thrown out.
2. Talk to DA or rep and plead it down to non moving violation.

I don't do traffic. You can always call the DAs office and talk to the traffic department, but if you take care of it outside of court it will go on your insurance.

Usually they give you an option to pay out of court. If you want to contest it, then you have to go. Are you just inclined to contest it or does it actually demand your appearance?

school zones are active in the summer? :
“When children are present”
Most schools have activities year around. Or a playground where children are often present.

Life can happen.
I had a cop get into an accident and couldn't appear on court date.
Ticket was thrown out.
I have other cops no show for traffic court.

I too had had city/sheriff cops no show as well..
State Troopers are/were required to attend all court dates unless something changed..

Because state law says you have to.

I understand but shite can happen to state troopers as well causing a no show.
Anyhow, he still has option of paying court cost and for a non moving violation.

If cops can't show up, the state will just continue the trial if they really want to do the trial.

Insurance companies do not run mvr’s unless you’re in an at fault accident, add a driver, add collision to a new or existing auto. Don’t buy a new auto and keep your nose clean for 5 yrs and they will never look.
Got three speeding tickets one summer, 68/45 on pinnook required attendance in judge salooms court. Pled guilty and paid my fine.

Usually honesty will go really far with judges in these instances. They have so many cases to get through, and much more serious than simple speeding tickets (even in traffic court).
They put up with so much bullshite from trashy and ghetto people arguing with them for 90% of their day, they usually take it very easy on first timers that simply come and pay their dues and own up to their mistakes. I guarantee you that if you simply said "I wasn't aware the flashing sign that said ____ speed limit while children present applies while school is out, I'll be more careful in the future" you'll walk out with a non-moving violation in under 30 seconds
