re: Husbands of the OT, how big was your wife’s ring?

Big rings on your wife's finger is like having a big truck. You had to overcompensate for your small pee pee to get her to marry you.
To answer your question though, lab created diamonds are the same as blood diamonds. So no difference.

1.86ct, she rounds it up. Looks like 2 carats, costs like less than 2 carats. We were both happy with it.
Don't neglect cut and clarity for size though. The shine of a good diamond is impressive. You can go a letter grade or two down in color quality with a gold setting vs a silver one.
ETA: Full disclosure, I did get a lab diamond because she specifically asked for one for "ethical" (and fiscal) reasons. Can't tell the difference, and it isn't any less meaningful because it isn't millions of years old.

I was a poor college student and so was she.
It wasn’t very big but it was 2 months salary.
She gave it back when we divorced but keep all the other expensive jewelry like a diamond necklace, rings, cross necklace, etc……

Bought the ring in 1998. 1.25 carat pear shaped diamond surrounded by .50 carats of leftover diamond slivers. The wife still loves it to this day. That pear shape was very unique and different back then.

man made diamonds worth it? Looks good but I don’t know if women care about that stuff.
I just ordered a custom engagement ring. I got a diamond man made and it’s 1/3 the cost of a natural diamond the same size. Jeweler told me it’s literally the same makeup of a natural diamond and you can’t tell a difference. It’s a logical choice to get lab grown unless you just have a bunch of money to blow.
And yea some women if they know probably would get upset because they’re irrational beings. Just don’t tell her it’s lab grown she won’t be able to tell

0.90 ct. Looks the same as 1 ct. for way cheaper.

didn't get her a ring. About a week or two after the wedding we decided we still needed them for the social signal that we're taken, so I told her to pick some rings out. We spent less than $100 for two rings off of Etsy. I forgot mine in a hotel bathroom 2 weeks later.
Funny thing is these are the marriages that last

I mined my wife's 28 carat ring from the cubic zirconia mines in Zimbabwe myself.

Wife here .. I didn't give a crap about ring size. In fact I had a pendant from my mother in law that was reset as a ring.
When our son was planning on proposing, I told him that HE needed to decide how much he could AFFORD and then work with what he knew she would like shape/style wise. He did indeed end up with a lab grown diamond (it was a "baby diamond" as they described it grown quicker in the lab).
She loved it and would have been very upset had he spent more.

I bought one used on Facebook marketplace. She didn't know the difference. Saved beaucoup though.

First, decide your budget. Then you either have to ask or decide what she would place more value on, the size, cut or clarity.

The very first thing she will do is go have it appraised, "for insurance purposes." (Her broke arse will never insure it.) They will inform her it is a diamonoid.
I went 1.06 ct. round. It was aboot $4200 in the early '90's.

Lol at some who think all women with a big center stone are the demanding, selfish type. Some guys just want something special for thier wives. If they can afford it, what's the big deal?

First ring when no money was .63, not good clarity.
Just bought lab made 1c with brilliant shine at 2/3 less than real diamond. Jeweler said even he needs special machine to determine that it is a man made diamond. Wife happy but I think she secretly still wants real diamond that I spend $10k for.

If you want to get a 1 ct. ring you go for .85-.99 the price increase for the full ct. isn't worth the tiny amount more you're getting. It works like that for 1.5, 2, and etc. as well.
