Seems like a reasonable legal argument by the parents. Also a reasonable counter argument for all intent for the license to be signed and submitted.

Yes. People suck donkey balls. You have the mother of the bride behaving like trash and the yankee that killed the bride sitting in prison behaving like none of this is her fault.

Derp. There are several great recreational drugs that don’t lead to any of the idiocy bred by excess consumption of cheap shitty alcohol.

While technically correct. That is a fricked up argument for the mom to use.

Lol sure thing. I’m well aware of golf carts being driven on roads in shitty small towns all over the US. My statement still stands.

Jesus that's awful.
How's the wife been doing? I can't imagine well.
At the funeral, she was the rock everyone else leaned on. Every firefighter and police officer who attended the accident was there. She has done better than I would have expected.
Being a pallbearer on those little coffins was a heart-wrenching experience. I don't know how his wife has done as well as she has.

Sad part about this is the bride's mother is fighting the husband about who gets the money related to the deceased's wrongful death claim. It's turned into a really sordid affair.
It is more to it than that. They initially agreed to split control of the state, but after a while the husband balked at that and, through his lawyers, began the process of trying to take full control of the estate. It has become a lawyer fight ever since.
This settlement goes to the estate and other injured parties who were involved, not the husband. I saw in another article that the total amount after lawyer fees is $863,000.

Your thread title sounds like Biden on an unmedicated day.

Only 25 years. You say that like it is NBD to serve 25 years in prison, Do you not think 25 years in the klink will reshape her way of thinking?
Shev purposefully got behind the wheel drunk and killed someone. There is no excuse

Sitting in jail cell for 25 years sucking the teat of the taxpayers sucks. She should have to fill potholes for life.

I get it, goober. Coastal vacation towns are loaded up with golf carts. I’ll stand by statement about being on one on a country road in coastal south cackalacki as your wedding transportation.

We all know she isn't going to get close to 25 years for this. That being said maybe they should consider revoking her driving privileges for life at least

Girl dies on wedding day in 2023. Husband is compensated. Title is fine but resorts to political statement. Perfect

Why the rental car company? Seems dumb.
quote:Where it says in the second paragraph above that "[t]he court ordered," that really means that the court approved the settlement.
A judge in South Carolina has approved a partial settlement of more than $1 million for a newlywed husband turned widower who lost his wife on a South Carolina beach road just hours after their wedding in April 2023.
* * *
The court ordered The Crab Shack to pay $640,000, The Folly Deli to pay $320,000, Snapper Jacks to pay $320,000, Progressive Northern Insurance Company to pay $75,000, and Enterprise Rent-a-Car to pay $24,000. In sum, the settlement amounts to some $1.379 million, according to a report by CBS News.
Enterprise Rent-a-Car agreed to pay $24,000.
The $24,000 was probably the policy limits for body injury liability on the rental car's insurance policy. The lawyer hired by the insurance company to represent Enterprise did not want to go to trial on a case involving the death of a brand new bride. The litigation costs alone were going to exceed $24,000.
The article does not say who rented the Enterprise vehicle. If the driver Komoroski drove the rented vehicle, she was clearly liable, and Enterprise would have to pay.
If the rented vehicle was the golf cart, there was probably UIM coverage that would have to kick in policy limits.
In short, the attorney probably advised Enterprise to pay the plaintiffs the policy limits of $24,000 rather than pay the attorney more than that to fight it and risk a huge bad faith failure to settle verdict.

People who get DUI's should get lots of jail time, and a resulting death should be aggravated murder charges.

You keep saying country road. Where the frick are you from that you call it a country road?
They were on a 25 mph road, the defendant was going 65 mph. They were leaving a venue in a tourist town.
