Dwight Schrute knows what’s up. You gotta mark the baby before it’s rolled off.

Find it hard to believe this considering how hospitals tag the mom and baby to make sure something like this doesn't happen

That's why it's so rare, dipshit
Hospitals literally still.operate on the wrong side of the body sometimes.

10 years ago, I had brain surgery, skull based. Tech came in a put an X on the back of my neck, telling the physician where he would approach. When I questioned him, he said, that's where he'll go in. I explained the tumor was on the other side, he said "let me check the xray"
I told him check whatever the frick he wanted, but I knew where my tumor was.

The dumb frick looked at the xray backwards....he flipped it over, and said "oops". Had to use alcohol to get the mark off my head and redo.

So can some overworked nurse grab the wrong wristband before tagging kid? Absolutely

Well that’s the craziest thing I have read all day. I can’t imagine what those parents are going through.

Believe it or not, this used to be more common than you’d imagine. When my daughter was born, right after she started breathing and screaming, they put her ankle tag on her, me, and my wife. They would scan that tag constantly. Any procedure, check in, anytime she was moved in or out of the room.

Even if I were to find out that one of them weren’t biologically mine.

Well, if they were biological to someone else, the choice wouldn't necessarily be yours alone.
Same as if you found you had a biological 10 yr old son, living in poverty

So what's the fix? Each family swap or keeps or what. Tough decision.

That's insane. I have a 5 year old daughter. I couldn't just swap her out with the right one. That's an impossible situation.

My very first question, and leads me to believe this is a fake story.

I assume this is fake as well. Just for the sake of conversation, I suspect he got tested because the child looked nothing like him. Yes, just about every child is going to look more like one parent than the other. But there is at least SOME resemblance to the "non-dominant" parent.

My first thought was something like that fertility doctor in Indiana who used his own sperm to impregnate something like 95 women, but if it isn't hers either, then that explanation doesn't work.

That was some sketchy shite, because that Dr's sperm distribution was spread within close proximity in less than a 50 mile radius. Some of his offspring could've easily procreated with their sibling without ever knowing.

If they indeed sue, we will know soon enough. You can't keep a lawsuit like that quiet for too long.

grab all 3 wrong tags that are in the delivery room?

I'm not saying its impossible because I don't know every hospitals procedures, but I know most hospitals use the tag method and keep the babies in the rooms with the parents for at least the last 10 years

That's a damned dilemma. You sue the everloving shite out of the hospital, but what on earth do you do next?
It sounds weird, but the best thing to do may be to just do absolutely nothing.

I don't know for sure but from what I can gather in past examples, they don't usually make the children swap families, at least if they're old enough that it would be a traumatic type of experience.

So to that end, it's almost not worth the pain of doing much. Just a wild scenario and for some it may be best to just move on as is.

There's millions upon millions of babies born every year. It's not hard to believe this could happen at least 1 tome
