I fear in the next decade you won’t be able to get insurance on the coast and it’ll only be the Uber wealthy who can afford to replace a beach house and big corporations with high rises. Local residents will be pushed out and create a major problem for staffing all the hotels and tourism jobs
the toilets in those beachfront condos aren't gonna scrub themselves

That house in the cul de sac at the end of the main road is where I stay 5 or 6 times a year. It’s called Sunset Point. I have friends who live in HB and make their living doing fishing charters. Salt of the earth people who eek out a living in that small village. Just going to hope for the best.

How do you guys think Orlando is looking as of now?

And all the actuaries who tell them what they want to hear, instead of what they need to hear.

Franklin is bombing out this morning. Spectacular hurricane. That'll crank some ACE.

I started a thread or two when it looked like rain would impact one of our games. What’s your point?
You started a thread or two per week. My point is you constantly freak out about the weather. Very few baseball games were impacted, and I'm sure the football game will be fine.

I think there will likely be some rough weather there as the spiral bands come through. How much depends on exactly what track Idalia ultimately takes.

Prayers for your friends and their livelihoods. I wonder how bad this is going to wreck the sea grass/scalloping in the Big Bend area in/around Steinhatchee down to HB?

Big question, where is Jim Cantore headed?
Posted on 8/28/23 at 8:54 am to slackster
I was comparing it to the storm in the golf….

I have an uncle and aunt that live in Lecanto in Citrus County. My father spoke to my uncle yesterday, and he didn't seem concerned. I hope he changes his tune and heads south to my cousin's place, which will only get rain and a breeze if this track holds more or less. I might call him later today to see what his plans are. He's stubborn so they'll probably stay.

The Port St Joe scallops seem to have weathered Hurricane Michael so the big bend area may fair the same.

I bet he starts in Cedar Key. Not sure if he'll be able to stay there though.

Is it going to make landfall anywhere? Last I saw on Ventusky it wasn't, not sure how accurate that is.

Ragged Franklin and now ferocious Franklin.
Shows what good atmospheric conditions can do. It’s way more important than 88 degree water temperature. Hopefully it passes way west and north of Bermuda and folks are safe.
