Sadly, that part of the state will always be put at the bottom of the list when it comes to protection. It's a damn shame, because there are some hardworking people who have lived there for many generations. They are survilists in my book. My beef is with NOLA. Dipshite voting base that has always accepted awful leadership. Who was the fella that warned the folks about a catastrophic storm and flooding that since passed away? From UNO? Mr Maestri? Not the baseball coach. He was exactly right.

In my not amateur opinion, I agree its too early to worry about shifts in track that small.

I understand that we get wobbles and had no worry. I merely asked if anybody saw the same thing I saw. Apparently nobody even looked because the only answers I got were don't worry about it.

Are we still discussing all things storm, or is it time to bring out the tabasco and sandpaper?

It’s just that it doesn’t matter right now.

Now if it was a nature hurricane 24-48 hours from landfall then yes it would matter, but we have an immature system. We don’t know how strong it’s going to be or exactly how it’s all going to play out.

ETA: I just read Duke’s reply. Follow his advice.

Looks like Idalia will be spending quite a bit of time over the Loop Current. Given current satellite presentation of Idalia - feature could quickly intensify towards major hurricane intensity...

For comparison, Hurricane Ian spent less time over the Loop Current but started off as a Cat 1 hurricane in the western Caribbean.

I fish 5 to 6 time a year out of Horseshoe Beach and have a lot of charter Captain friends there. Really hoping they get spared the brunt of this storm.

It'll cook tonight if it is already sending up towers like that. IR is impressive for that burst, too.

Have a lot of friends with oyster farm in Cedar Key and Wakkula. Sold seed to some of them a couple months ago. Praying this goes lightly or spares them.

18z hurricane models have this making a run at the 940s but bring it into a pretty sparsely populated part of Florida. I've spent some time down in that area; pretty, but not much there.

It’s got a lot of hot gulf water to travel over.

Yep this is the same group that doesn’t want to pay for any of their protection through a local tax.

They could do millions in levee work if they passed even a small sales tax for their own levees.

But it would liable to be pissed away at some unnecessary projects.
