I started a thread or two when it looked like rain would impact one of our games. What’s your point?

Patience.
Its progressing tonight but I dont think we're seeing a rapid pace of intensification. Lot of organizing left to go before it can fully tap the heat available to it.

Franklin also looking very impressive in the last few hours. I forget the name of it but I believe there is a known intensification in the evening/night for tropical systems.

love when that happens.
Still has work to do but ahead of schedule (and a few mb lower than my expectation). Not the best news.

From the discussion...oh boy...Florida needs to be preparing as soon as possible tomorrow.
quote:
Idalia is sitting over very warm waters of about 30 degrees
Celsius, and when it moves northward, it will be over the even
deeper warm waters of the Loop Current in 24-36 hours. Although
the trough over the Gulf could impart some shear over the system,
this is likely to be offset by upper-level diffluence. Idalia has
already strengthened more than anticipated, and the environment
looks ripe for additional intensification, possibly rapid. The NHC
intensity forecast has been increased and lies at the upper bound of
the guidance. The new prediction now shows a 95-kt hurricane over
the eastern Gulf of Mexico at 48 hours, but it should be stressed
that additional strengthening to major hurricane strength is
becoming increasingly likely before Idalia reaches the Gulf coast
of Florida. Interests within the storm surge and hurricane watch
areas are urged to prepare for possible significant impacts and
monitor future updates to the forecast.

It being this ahead of schedule really increases the chances of it getting to a major (or potentially making it quite a bit farther).
Easier to fight the shear.
Hopefully the deeping will let it take in some of the dry air lurking NW, but this aint what I wanted to see tonight.

Those on the Florida Gulf coast from the Big Bend down through Tampa Bay need to start preparing. There won’t be a big preparation window, unfortunately, and the possibility of major hurricane is certainly increasing.

I had to do that, Duke is one of the best in these!

I really want to get into the semantics game of what I meant by rapid.
but Ill just take the L.
Not editing either, so everyone can enjoy.
I laughed.
A little too much weed, too little actually checking the damn recon.
